« on: January 23, 2012, 10:31:07 PM »
So I'm sending my fiance' a decent size box.
I've had issues with USPS and things disappearing out of the boxes in recent months. So I'm curious to know should I go thru UPS or Any other reccomendations?

Are you shipping from US to UK?

Between Christmas and family birthdays, I've had a ton of packages delivered from the States over the past few months with no issues whatsoever. Most friends and family have opted to use US Priority Mail flat rate boxes to ship items over. None of the items have been tampered with at all.  As long as the parcels are correctly itemized and truthfully declared for customs, there shouldn't be a problem.

In the opposite direction...for packages from UK to US, I've opted for DHL flat rate boxes and have zero problems, as well.

I've never had things go missing with USPS, but the problem for us was that the package would not be left on the doorstep (as usually happens in the US)  Sometimes it would be left with an obliging neighbour but mostly the postie would put a note through the letter box saying it could be collected from the sorting office (on the other side of the city of course). I think they are supposed to attempt delivery on 2 or 3 days and give you the option of specifying what day you will be home (but of course you'll be in the loo or something on that day).

I sent it from US-UK i went Express shipping, Forget the flat rate boxes, I went to staples got a medium size box, insurance and Guarenteed delivery combined were cheaper then a flat rate.

Our issue is stuff from UK to US, The first time one item was missing, second time EVERYTHING but one Item was missing. So we Have ZERO faith in royal mail delivery to the states.
