Just finished "Troublesome Young Men" by Lynne Olson, about the Tory MP rebellion during and before the Phoney War that lead to Winston Churchill's ascendancy as PM. Really fascinating, well written and sourced with a lot of detail. (I'm a fan of history books though).

That's really good to know.  I was just considering getting this book for my husband's birthday.

Just finished Pillars of the Earth!  Sigh, soooooooo amazing!

Loved it--read it as part of the curriculum of a medieval history class in uni.

reading bill bryson's 'shakespeare' just now. it's unique among shakespeare biographies in that he admits that we really know sweet fa about the guy's life!

Just reread We Need to Talk about Kevin as BBC4 is doing a drama serial on it that's quite good and condensed.

Still think it's a good read and some of it does strike a chord with parenting.

I know that got some flak when it first came out, but I actually really liked it. Found it extremely disturbing, but really liked it. It also solidified my feeling that I should NOT be a parent.

Edited to add that I'm finally getting 'round to reading The Sea by John Banville. Enjoying it so far, but really only just started it....

I just read this too.  I was a bit dubious when I was given it, but I had no reason to be because it turned out to be a really good read.  :)

I'm reading The Borrowers aloud to my kids at bedtime.  I haven't read it since I was a child myself and I'm quite enjoying it!  :)

I'm reading Title Deeds. It's the story of Hugh Campbell, 25th Thane of Cawdor, written by his daughter, Liza Campbell. It's soooo un-put-downable! Hugh was a real creep! But I feel a bit voyeuristic reading it as my neighbour, James, was Hugh's brother.   :)

JPod by Douglas Coupland.  I hate his writing sometimes, but I get sucked into his books.  Sometimes his gimmicky writing works.  Sometimes it's sophomoric.

I'm stuck between 3 books right now, Three Cups of Tea...Kitchen Confidential and The White Island.  My mission today is to read only one and finish it!  :P

I loved it so much that I bought August (the one which came first about the same family), but haven't read it yet - and that was over a year ago! So you've reminded me to bump it up on my TBR pile.
