How big is your TBR pile?  ;D

If you really want to know ... at last count ... 459. And those are just the ones I own and want to read. Don't get me started on all the books I haven't even yet acquired!  :\\\'(

No, it's not cool! It's horrible! I figure that I read 50-60 books per year. So I can't help but think about my own mortality and start prioritising what I read already! It's a scary thought that I can't read everything I want to.

My mother has been saying (essentially)the same thing for years. It could be worse. There could be NOTHING left worth reading. That would be awful!

I'm stuck between 3 books right now ...My mission today is to read only one and finish it!  :P

I'm like that!!

My newest book is winning at the moment!!

A Long Way Down by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman which chronicles their motorbike trip from John o'Groats to Cape Town via East Africa. I read their Long Way Round book when I was took my 'long way down' trip overland to Cape Town from East Africa a few years ago. They are starting to get on my nerves with all the whinging though! I also bought the DVD that goes with it.

Then it is back to my other books already in progress.  ;)

I just finished Midnight Cactus by Bella Pollen and I whizzed through Life Sentences by Elizabeth Forsyth Hailey.  I read it years and years ago and I still liked it.

I've just finished a biography of Daphne du Maurier by Margaret Forster. Now I'm reading Kingfishers Catch Fire by Rumer Godden.

I've been reading like crazy in the past couple of weeks:

The Road by Cormac McCarthy: Wonderfully written, one of the best books I've ever read, but devastating. So I'm in the odd position of thinking this is an incredible book, but I don't think I'd call it a favorite book. I'm not sure what to call it. It was so well done that the harshness of it really cut to the bone.

Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris: Wonderful book! Interesting, funny and an observant look at office life. I'm sure I'll read it a few more times. It would make a great movie, too. It had sad parts, but there was plenty of humor to balance it out.

Fire in the Blood by Irene Nerimovsky: I didn't really see why this was so recommended by reviewers. Blah.

The Girl With a Pearl Earring: A pleasant read.

On Chesil Beach by Ian Mcewan: Good book. Interesting look at how what you say or do in an instant (or fail to say and do) can have a big impact on lives.

I just read that last month.  It was really good, but yeah, one of those you don't know if you should recommend it to people.

Right now I am reading Grey Area, a collection of short stories by Will Self.
