I've been reading like crazy in the past couple of weeks:
The Road by Cormac McCarthy: Wonderfully written, one of the best books I've ever read, but devastating. So I'm in the odd position of thinking this is an incredible book, but I don't think I'd call it a favorite book. I'm not sure what to call it. It was so well done that the harshness of it really cut to the bone.
Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris: Wonderful book! Interesting, funny and an observant look at office life. I'm sure I'll read it a few more times. It would make a great movie, too. It had sad parts, but there was plenty of humor to balance it out.
Fire in the Blood by Irene Nerimovsky: I didn't really see why this was so recommended by reviewers. Blah.
The Girl With a Pearl Earring: A pleasant read.
On Chesil Beach by Ian Mcewan: Good book. Interesting look at how what you say or do in an instant (or fail to say and do) can have a big impact on lives.
