Just finished Olive Kittredge by Elizabeth Strout.  Felt like I knew Olive -- or maybe she is me  :)
Currently reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.  All about the women's subculture in C19 China.  Foot binding and secret writing.  Fascinating.

Recently finished "Foreskin's Lament" which an amazon review was quoted as saying "somehow expresses the ideas of Richard Dawkins in the tone of David Sedaris."  So, of course, I loved it.  Thanks to Courtney for loaning it to me!

Am currently reading "The Duchess" after seeing the DVD recently.  The book is quite different from the film.  I am really enjoying the book, but recommend that if anyone also wants to see the film, then see the film first.

The new Souther Vampire Mysteries book Dead and Gone.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew

I just finished "The Time Traveler's Wife."  If you have not read it, go buy it.  I just sat on my couch and cried for almost an hour.  Gorgeous.

If you liked it, I really recommend Lorelai's Secret by Caloryn Pankhurst. I really think you'd enjoy it!

I quite liked that one, except there were bits I found pretty gruesome. But I really didn't like The Time Traveler's Wife, so I'm not sure they're all that similar.

What a joy!! That's one of those books I wish I hadn't read so I could experience reading it for the first time all over again! Lucky you!  :D

I came back from last night's book club meeting with a couple of recommendations. Has anyone read either of these two?

Netherland by Joseph O'Neill

The Sorrows of an American by Siri Hustvedt

I'm sorry Chary, I haven't read either of those books.

But yay, yay, yay about Pursuit of Love! :D I was hoping I'd like it.  It's in a double volume with Love in a Cold Climate, which I've also not read.  I thought if I liked the first, I'd go on and read the second.

Yes, I read it last year.  I think I remember I liked it, but I found it difficult to get into and a bit tough to follow.  It was alright though.

I just finished Augusten Burrows' A Wolf At the Table: A Memoir of My Father and Comfort: A Journey Through Grief by Ann Hood.
