I just finished a new Val McDermid.  It's not a Tony Hill/Carol mystery, and I think that made it more enjoyable.  It's called A Darker Domain and the plot is a little out there--but I really like the main character.

I've been on a Mary Stewart kick as well. Just relaxing and re-reading my "safety" books as I look for a job, really.

We went to Amsterdam this weekend, and went to the Anne Frank house, so I'm giving her diary a re-read.  I haven't read it since junior high.

I just finished reading the first three books in the Vampire Queen Betsy series by MaryJanice Davidson. I thought the first book was a hoot and I loved the character and now just finished book 3 and I want to smack her upside the head. Hard. I've never soured on a series so drastically and so quickly before.

Are those the "undead and un...." ones?  They're quite popular at my library, though I've never actually read any of them.

I'm about to start "the life and times of mrs beeton" on recommendation from a friend.

That's them! Stuff it, Betsy! In comparison, I know the Southern Vampire series is not exactly the best written stuff out there, but at least the book Sookie doesn't make me want to strangle her....much. :) The show Sookie, on the other hand......

Ooh, I loved L&T of Mrs Beeton. It was great!

I thought The Lovely Bones was amazing.  Lyrical.  I've been on a foreign language mystery kick so I'm reading Borkmann's Point by Hakan Nesser.  Fun stuff.

Reading The Graft by Martina Cole. It's ok. Found it on holiday on a dusty bookshelf at the hotel.

Read Lucky by Jackie Collins while on holiday - and loved it!  :) Why didn't anyone tell me how fun her books were before?!

My foster mom loaned me Hollywood Wives when I was 12. I read it in two days flat - loved it! She was horrified when she read it and realised how trashy it was!
