Just went to the library to return a few books that were due, and although I didn't think I'd get anything, I couldn't resist.

Atlas of Unknowns
- Tania James
The Urban Hermit - Sam MacDonald
The Mercy Papers - Robin Romm

Butterbabe by Rebecca Golden.  OK, this is a pretty good book.  I didn't like it at first and was beginning to consider at least putting it off until I tackled some of my other books.  However, I've found it funny in a weird way.  It's disturbing, but it has it's funny moments.  I guess the author looks up to David Sedaris, and I can see his influence.  But it is a bit more disturbing than Sedaris tends to be.

Anyway, it's the memoirs of an almost 600 pound woman who decides to get WLS.  There are some bits I had to laugh out loud during, and several that had me crying.  Maybe I am just hormonal or something.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.  I wasn't sure I would like it but so far it is very entertaining.  Plus it is a New York Times bestseller!

I just finished "Austenland" By Shannon Hale...it is about a girl who realizes that she has spent her entire life trying to find Mr Darcy as played by Colin Firth..and because of that has had some miserable relationships. She gets a chance to go to a place called "Austenland" in England on vacation where you step back into time into the life of the people in the Jane Austen novels. This book was a quick read and very funny and very entertaining...I highly recommend it...

The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. It's a real departure from her usual novels, but so far so good.

I'd never have imagined a book about wine could be so engrossing!
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I'm about two-thirds of the way through War and Peace so, to reward myself, I'm taking a little break to read The Red House Mystery - the only murder mystery every written by A.A. Milne.

About to Finish Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick.  Then it's onto Brave New World.  I've stolen some titles from Cheesebiscuit's dystopian themed list posted a few days ago, and I am very glad I did ^_^

When I was in college, we had a seminar on Utopian/Dystopian literature:
1.  Plato's Republic
2.  More's Utopia
3.  Butler's Erewhon
4.  Huxley's Brave new world
5.  Orwell's 1984
6.  Skinner's Walden 2
7.  Zamiatin's We

Then there's William Morris' News from nowhere
