The thing is, I didn't dislike the first..it's just I think it could have used some better editing, perhaps.

Also, while I can't relate to the Lisbeth character, I do find her very interesting, so she carried me through the slower parts.

But I think the trilogy as a whole is a worthwhile read.  It's dark, though.

The Book Thief - my step-daughter lent it to me.  At first I thought it was rather odd and felt that I might give up but the style changes after about the first 25 to 30 pages and settles down - now I'm really enjoying it.

I liked both of these, however Remember Me is best if you've read her previous books about the other sisters.

I'm confused  ??? This is listed as a stand alone novel? I've read the Shopaholic Series and The Undomesticated Goddess, but I don't see any prequals to this book.

My husband bought this on a whim when we had no internet. He took FOREVER to read it and so I wasn't interested, assuming it was boring. I finally picked it up because I had nothing else in the house and I really liked it. It takes a while to get into...but I enjoyed the style and the book!!  ;D

You're totally right.  I got that book mixed up with the Marian Keyes "Anybody out there?  For some reason my brain thought it was Remember Me.  Oops.

I just finished Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner.  A little slow at first, but dear god I cried like a baby for a long time at the end.  Sheesh, I don't remember the last time I cried like that, maybe it's just because I've read her other books, but jiminy christmas, I'm not sure whether to recommend it or shun it.  Recommend if you've read Good in Bed. Final answer.

I finished Brixton Beach today on the train coming back from Oxford. I really can't recommend it highly enough, but I also recommend that you do not read it in public!! I was sobbing like a baby!!  :\\\'(

Now I'm re-reading Bleak House.

"Ancestors of Avalon" the prequel to "The Mists of Avalon" which I've read about 11 times.  This prequel is OK so far, but nothing like "Mists".

Queen Elizabeth
The Queen Mother
The Official Biography
by William Shawcross

I can't put it down.  Reading it is like having to eat your way out of a chocolate mousse.

I just read Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro and I really enjoyed it, it would be a good book club read as there's a lot to think about, I'm moving onto "the Remains of the Day" now.

I'm also doing some research on young adult literature at the moment, and so read the "Hunger Games", trashy but interesting at points, the writing is so bad it's hard to forgive though.

Kindle for iphone is dangerous! Way too easy to get books :)

The Kindle in general is dangerous!  Now I see all these outgoing charges that have Amazon-Kindle attached to them and they just add up.

Right now, as I was reading a lot of non-fiction, I'm on a bit of a chick-lit break, so I read Twenties Girl, by Sophie Kinsella, and a Jodi Picoult book.  Twenties Girl was cute, the Picoult is typical Picoult.  Someone always dies, someone is always abused by someone, possible divorce, etc.  (Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the books, but they are downers)

Right now, I'm reading Bookends by Jane Green.  Nice chick lit book to pass the time...especially on my commute to/from work on the bus.   :)

LOVE Sophie Kinsella...anything by her, really.  Also, the books by Maeve Binchy are great, too.  Scarlet Feather, Quentins, Night of Rain and Stars are great to get you started with her stuff.   ;)

When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris  As much as I love listening to him on NPR (and seeing him in person!), this is only the second book of his that I've read!
