When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris  As much as I love listening to him on NPR (and seeing him in person!), this is only the second book of his that I've read!

You must read them all! Now!

I just finished Never Let Me Go (Kazuo Ishiguro) and now feel deepy disturbed. It was good, but ...

Now I'm on On Beauty by Zadie Smith.

I think I haven't read them because so often his spots on 'This American Life' are taken from his books, so I feel I'm duplicating. But, that's just kind of dumb because he hasn't read them ALL on the radio!  :P

I agree, with a caveat.  I have all of his books on tape (or mp3 whatever we do now) and I love, love love him.  But, I  prefer to listen to him read his books, so I'll never buy another book not on tape (ok, I know mps or whatevs) that he's written.

I started the book last night. It's funny because since I'm so used to listening to him, I actually read the book in his voice. Buying his books on tape is a really great idea, though! I hadn't even thought about that!

The World According to Jeremy Clarkson.  I don't want to start something too deep and have the baby born in the middle of it and have to set it aside.  I think he's pretty funny most of the time but there is an overwhelming amount of negativity about Americans in pretty much every chapter.   >:(

I can be quite cynical about the US, but Clarkson annoys even me in that respect! (Not that that's the only thing about him that annoys me by a long way).

Recently finished Tickling the English by Dara O'Briain.  Loved Loved Loved it!  Esp the bits about the Birmingham Hippodrome (where we recently saw him) and the "I will love my English child" bit.

I'm reading Chocolat, by Joanne Harris. It's really sweet(ha ha!) and light. :D

Finishing up the Scott Westerfeld teen sci-fi series with "Extras". Usually I am not into teen/YA fiction, but I picked up the first of this series on our crossing here not realising it was targeted at teens until I got into it a bit.  It's not a bad series, and I am glad I am finally finishing it.

The Art of Racing in the Rain.  I don't know if it's because we recently had to put my dog to sleep, but good lord, this book is good.  And it also makes me want to cry.

The Uncommon Reader, by Alan Bennett. It's a very quick read (which I'm kind of regretting, I'm halfway through after 1 tube journey), and fun.

A friend sent me this, and like you, I recently had to put my 17 year old setter to sleep.  I read the first chapter and was bawling like a baby.  I had to put the book aside for a bit.  I might be ready to read it now.

I know, my eyes welled up on the tube!  But it gets better.  (less emotional).  I can handle it without crying now.

It's a lovely, lovely book.

I'm currently finishing "Johannes Cabal, Detective"; I think it's hilarious. Moving towards a few mystery novels for our holiday in Sri Lanka.
