The Art of Racing in the Rain.  I don't know if it's because we recently had to put my dog to sleep, but good lord, this book is good.  And it also makes me want to cry.

I just sobbed my way through this entire book yesterday.  Seriously the most moving thing I have read in AAAAAGGGGGES.  I really want to read it again immediately, but not sure I have enough tears left at the moment!

Gonna start The Half Life of Stars by Louise Werner. Hope it's good! Has anyone else read it?

Half Life of Stars was absolutely pants.  :-X Skipped to the end(which, I think is a complete and utter sin, and only do it when I hate what I'm reading) and then put it back on the shelf. It will go off to a charity shop soon as soon as possible!  :P

I started Hullaballoo in the Guava Orchard by Kiran Dasai after I put Half Life of Stars on the shelf. I'm liking Hullaballoo a lot, though. I can relate to the characters, and I've already laughed once. :D

I thought that was really lovely!  :)

I just finished Rachel Cusk's Arlington Park , and am now reading The Whole Day Through by the handsome and charming Patrick Gale.

What did you think of it?

I really liked it at first. But as I kept reading, I found myself thinking it was pretty self-indulgent. I can't take that much navel-gazing. Don't get me wrong - it was beautifully written in places, but just a bit too too for me. Have you read it?

Yeah, I read it a year or two ago, so I don't remember it all that well.  I just remember sympathising too much with the characters she probably wanted us to dislike (even though I didn't find them all that likeable) and not liking the ones she seemed to want us to like.  I do think it was well written compared to a lot of other books of that type I've read.

I've recently got through A Confederacy of Dunces (fabulous), a reread of The Handmaids Tale (also fabulous), and Emily Giffin's Heart of the Matter.  Now I'm on Anne of Green Gables for the millioneth time.  ;D

I've a huge stack.  Our library is closed for a few weeks, so I had to make sure I had reading material.  I guess I could go to another branch, but I have no clue where they are.

Right now I am finishing up A Room with a View by EM Forrester for our book club, and I've started The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood.

The Private Patient by P.D. James.  Finally finished Shawcross' book on the Queen Mother. It was very interesting and informative.
