Oh yes... have visited the site many times.  Going to see it in a BIG, HOLLYWOOD movie theater at Christmas! ;D

I would love to see in on an IMAX screen - that would be SO cool!!!

Just finished The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

One of my favourites, however I highly recommend reading The Magician's Nephew before reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, since The Magician's Nephew is the first in the series.  But, since you've already read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, I still urge you to read them all.   My favourite book in the Chronicles of Narnia is A Horse and His Boy.

You said that Simon has read all of C.S. Lewis's books.  I find that refreshing.  I found it so surprising - I was really shocked - here when Jamie informed me that all the English literature which is standard required reading in schools in the States, is NOT required reading over here! :o  Jamie had never read any of the Chronicles until inspired by me to do so.  Now he has read them all. ;D

Indeed, my favourite book of all time (I read it at least once a year) is C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces.  There are two things I do when I am feeling most low and trapped by life: one is to watch The Shawshank Redemption again (watched it again yesterday, in fact) and, two, when things are really at their worst, I reach for Till We Have Faces.  It just brings it all back into perspective.

But, anywho...yeah, I am looking forward to the movie...even if it is a Disney Production...it looks like it will be awesome.  I certainly hope it is.
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Jamie's...beyond the stars and past eternity.

EMAIL or PM me for information about gigs or about booking me (solo gig) or the band.

For any sci-fi lovers out there, while sorting and packing up my books, I decided to re-read the Dune series. Haven't read them since the '70s so am really looking forward to rediscovering them!
Hi Paula,
I just caught this thread and saw you mentioned the Dune series.  I've only read the original Dune novel which was great.  But how are the other books?  Do they live up to the first?

I loved the Lion, Witch & The Wardrobe series as a child.  Should read that again really.  :)

Lately though, my brain has been taken over by the Honor Harrington series by David Weber (the first few can be read for free at www.baen.com btw...).

Honor's definitely my new favorite character.  :)

You said that Simon has read all of C.S. Lewis's books.  I find that refreshing.

He went to uni for a Linguistics degree - he has a photographic mind.  He's currently writing his own Narnia story.  He's very talented, and extremely "well read".  He totally blows me away when it comes to literature of any sort - and history as well.  He's pretty much one of the most intelligent people I've ever met.  Not that I'm at all partial, but I've heard others say this of him as well.

Anyway - enough about him!  ;)   I could gush for hours.

I do plan to read the rest of them, but will take a bit of a break to read Great Expectations.  He will be performing in a production of this in February, and I've never read it before.

I think Disney will do a great job, but I will be curious to see how they handle the obvious allegory of Christ's life through Aslan.  It should be very interesting, given how Holywood is so afraid of anything with a Christian slant to it.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Cosmos by the late, great Carl Sagan.  An oldie but definitely a goodie. Accessible  science but not pandering.

Have you heard that they've re-released the original TV series?  They've kept all the original film and voiceover of Sagan, but updated all the graphics.  It's tres cool.  I'm hoping they'll release it on DVD soon so I can buy it for my husband - he'll plotz!  ;D

No way! I'd LOVE to have that!  Is it on PBS in the States? If so it should be released on DVD at some point.  Cool! Thanks for the heads up ;D
