I had never heard of it either. I found it by accident at Costco. :)

I finished reading The Princess Bride (the 30th anniversary edition containing the 1st chapter of Buttercup's Baby) on Saturday.  I have to say, this is one of those extremely rare occasions where I actually like the film better than the book. :o  I think that has only happened one other time - with The Shawshank Redemption; I like the film much better than the short story: Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemtion.  Anywho...it was still quite an entertaining read.

I am now reading Velocity by Mr. Dean Koontz.  I'm really enjoying it.  As the title would suggest, it is very fast paced - a quick and exciting enjoyable read.
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Jamie's...beyond the stars and past eternity.

EMAIL or PM me for information about gigs or about booking me (solo gig) or the band.

Vita: The Life of V. Sackville-West by Victoria Glendenning.  She was a very interesting lady and it's wonderful so far- I'm a huge fan of her and husband Harold Nicolson's Sissinghurst gardens.

Lot's of intrigue and drama in this one- I live a boring life, I've come to realise!  ;)

I just finished Arthur & George by Julian Barnes. It was such a great read! I really recommend it!

It's basically the story of a real-life case that Arthur Conan Doyle became involved in -- trying to prove the innocence of a man he felt had been wrongly accused. But it's far more than that. It starts with the childhoods of Arthur and George (the man charged) and goes back and forth between the lives of the two, showing the differences in how they were raised and how they lived and how that turned them into the men they became. So it's sort of part psychological study and part thriller -- because George's "crimes" and trial are really fascinating, too!

I loved this book, too!

It was also a beautifully produced hardback (if you're a stickler for pretty binding as I am hehe)

I just finished reading "Property" by Valerie Martin. It's for my February book club meeting, and I probably wouldn't have chosen it on my own. It won the Orange Prize and has had some really good reviews, but I didn't love it. It all seemed too simplistic to me, as well as being about a topic that's been done to death, ever since "Gone With the Wind." OK, it was better than Margaret Mitchell, but that's not saying much. On the plus side, it was an extremely quick read. I polished it off in about 48 hours.

..."Property" by Valerie Martin...

I received this book as a Xmas pressie two years back, but out of the numerous books on our shelves I have yet to read -- it hasn't particularly piqued my interest thus far.  I'm not sure why.  MIL has purchased 2-3 books as gifts for me (this one included) -- but I think she's just guessing as to my taste, which is about the most anyone can do I suppose -- short of my asking for a specific title.

(As an interesting aside, you should try keyboarding with fleece gloves on sometime.  It makes it considerably harder to hit the right keys! :P I am just too cold & ready for winter to be long over & done with!  Blah -- I hate it.)

I am reading The Hickory Staff by Robert Scott and Jay Gordon.

The cover and story synopsis on the back intrigued me so that Jamie bought it for me as an early Valentine's present (he is sooooo good to me). ;D

I thought for one moment you said  The Sea, The Sea  which is by Iris Murdoch and the most unbelievably turgid book it has ever been my misfortune to wade through. I was going to tell you to ditch it now.  ;)
