Just starting The Historian. Picked it up in WH Smith on the way home from work. Looks kinda interesting but I haven't heard anything about it. Anyone?

I recently read The Historian....great book!! I really like reading historical fiction and the background of the story of Dracula was very interesting...kinda scary, but I hope you like it!  :D

Also just finished My Sister's Keeper...awesome read! Quite an ending...

I'm reading The Color Purple by Alice Walker.  What a great classic!

I'm reading The Great Divorce by Valerie Martin. I didn't really like Property, but thought I'd give her a second chance. So far, I'm really enjoying it!

I think I need to start a "What ya not reading" thread. >:(  I've already had to return one book to the library unread.  Now I've got one of the Liza Picard books Saf mentioned in another thread, and have only managed to get through the first 20 pages.  Life is too hectic and I just don't have the time to sit for more than a few minutes to read right now!!!!!

Sorry to complain.  Just needed to get it out of my system.  Back to your regularly scheduled thread.....

I'm also reading one of Saf's recommended Liza Picard books! But they're nice in that you can sort of dip into them whenever you want -- you don't need a big hunk of time to get immersed in a story or anything! It's a great second book to have on the go.

Very true - I'm only a few pages in, but it's great!  (I'm reading Elizabeth's London, btw)

I'm currently reading a proof of a new book by Lori Lansing (who wrote Rush Home Road- awesome book!) called The Girls. It's about conjoined twins and is wonderful so far!

Just finished another proof of Karin Slaughter's new book coming out soon - Triptych- if you like gritty crime fiction, she's wonderful! (Very gorey, though- be warned)

I'm almost finished reading Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz.   A story about a young lady named Amanda, her sister Mathilda, and her daughter Ruth, and their lives and the people who interfere with them just after World War I in a small American town.  It's a great book and I got the recommendation off of Oprah's archived book club list.

I'm reading The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory, so far so good.

Wow, it's taking me 15 days to read this book!  That is slow for me.  I just bought a book about Henry the Eighth's wives to tell me a little more about them.  That is what happens when I read historical fiction, I get obsessed about the actual true history it's based on.

I read that a few years ago. Sad book, but really well written.

At the moment I am reading (or at least trying to) Atlantis by David Gibbins.  I have always loved the mystery surrounding Atlantis and the mythologies of Greece and Egypt.  I am only as far as chapter 11, but it's already proving a good read, it has a little bit of Clive Cussler crossed with Dan Brown.
