American sweets in Norfolk

Just wandered through Norwich city centre the other day and noticed that there are now two (two!) shops selling American candies and sodas (Grape soda!  OMG!).  The first is the 'Ye Olde English Sweet Shop' on London Street (across from Boots and between Bravissimo and The Edinburgh Woolen Mill).  The second is a kiosk in Castle Mall - floor 1, near Claire's.  I've been using Partridge's in London for years and I'm glad that I can get some of my favourites locally now.  

Out of interest, what kind of prices are they charging?

We've just been to Oxford and there's a place there called, I think, Ye Olde Sweet Shop, and they had some American sweets.....Hersheys kisses, peanut butter M&M's, twizzlers etc.
Prices were about £1.30 for a small bag of M&M's that equivalent here are about 60p

There is no equivalent here.  Peanut Butter M&M's, Mint M&M's, Coconut M&M's and Pretzel M&M's are not manufactured in the UK, so therefore there is no comparison to make.

£1.30 seems alright (identical almost to our prices), seen places sell them for £2 a bag.

You can get some of the sweets in the House of Fraser in Chapelfield cheaper - if they are carrying them at the time of course.

I saw some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for about four times the amount that they cost at Tescos which was pretty stupid IMO.

Sodas are cheaper at various Asian markets - but they aren't always the exact American version which may bother some people.

The best thing about the shop is that they will often special order you things which is a nice touch.

its not that stupid when you consider they are different products.  One has European/Arabic wrapping, the other is American.

If someone wants to pay a premium for a sweet in American wrapping - more power to them.

What I meant by the equivalent....was what we pay in the UK for the same size bag of peanut m&m's....I am well aware we don't have peanut butter etc here, if we did there'd be little point them importing them and me commenting on them!

Only saw these in passing - I'll check next time I'm in the area. 

Must say, though, I've been here so long and gotten so used to paying a premium for American versions of things that I don't generally bother to comparison shop anymore.  I either want it/need it, or don't.  You can't put a price on comfort food as far as I'm concerned, particularly on a bad day.  ;-)  (though I did once see a box of Honey Nut Cheerios for about £7 somewhere - that was definitely taking the mickey). 

There's a new sweet shop selling a large selection of American sweets, called Sweets & Co (I think). It's right by Specsavers in Norwich, on White Lion Street. They have Twinkies, a large mix of different sodas (including Mountain Dew Throwback), and a large mix of candy bars.

Just when you thought there were plenty of places to get American candy in Norwich there is now another one. There is a little kiosk in the Castle Mall, first floor. It sells the same stuff all the other shops seem to be selling, I wasn't close enough to check prices - so I can't say how it compares to the other places on that front.

American Soul, I know you've got a business to promote, but having an attitude with people you would like to be your future customers probably isnt the best idea...
