Where to live in Glasgow

This thread was my main reason for re-registering!

Heee - I wondered if it was! 

I really need to get back to Glasgow again for a visit!  To see you, of course, and maybe to finally meet .shell. one of these days... 

I'd stay away from Govanhill and Shawlands

Yeah, Govanhill is crap, but they have some really good curries round there!  Shawlands... I wouldn't want to live there, but i have a few sets of friends there who love it and who live in gorgeous houses there.  I wouldn't think it would be cheap to live in Shawlands, though, and as I said before, probably too far for shell to consider travelling.

Have to disagree. Shawlands, Battlefield, Langside and Queens Park are all excellent places to live, good night life and excellent transport back into town.

Yep, like I said, I have a lot of friends in Shawlands and surrounding areas who love it.  But for me, it's too far away from the places I like to go, and I was thinking for .shell. it might not be great as they will be at Glasgow Uni on a tight budget, so they might be better off without the additional transport cost by living more locally to the Uni.

We thought the same as you, Tracey. The closer the better. Hubby wanted to be close enough to the uni that he wouldn't be tempted to drive. We found a flat in Partick very very close to the uni. It's £695 but after refiguring our budget and looking at other money that will be coming in, we should be able to pull it off.

Heading up on Friday to sign the lease. Still haven't given proper notice here yet so we probably won't be moving for about a month but the location on that flat was so good that we didn't want to risk losing it.

I stopped at Taco Mazama's and had a burrito when we were up there a couple of weeks go. Yum!! And yes, awesome that Lupe Pintos is so close too. Oh, and they have a Cold Stone Creamery! Hubby said he's fully expecting to come home one day to find me passed out surrounded by Taco Mazama bags and tubs saying Cold Stone Creamery on them. LOL
