Temporary child care
« on: February 24, 2012, 02:25:18 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about very short term child care.  I may be doing a three week trip to the UK and wanted to see if I could find someone to look after my toddler during that time.  It would be more like a mother's helper or babysitter rather than a full-on nanny, as I wouldn't be at an office or something all day long.  Any thoughts on where to look for this?

Have you asked his current nanny? If she can't do the extra work, maybe she can recommend someone?

You mean bring her with us to the UK? Ooh, sorry, I wasn't clear - I'd be bringing the baby with me to the UK!

I wonder if it would be cheaper to do that? :)

Probably not! :)

I wish I could do, but we are in a nanny share and so the other family will need her to work for them while we are gone.  :)

Ooohh!!! Sorry!!! I thought you were leaving him with your DH at home and needed help!

Are you only going to be in London?

I wish I could do it!  ;D

This agency seems to have very flexible offerings:

Even if bringing the nanny with her might be an option, wouldn't that run afoul of all of the work on a visitor's visa rules we're always telling people about?

Definitely would!

Thanks, Courtney...that is likely what I'd be looking for.
