I Could Eat That For the Rest of my Life
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:38:41 PM »
My niece asked me the other day if I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life, what would it be.

I without hesitation said, white rice with soy sauce.

What one food/meal could you eat for the rest of your life?

What food wouldn't you touch even if you were stranded on a desert island and that's all you had to eat? I'd say celery. BLEH!

When I read your post, tacos instantly sprang to mind, so that must be the one thing for me. If I thought about it, I'd say steak, loaded baked potato and salad with ranch (think Lone Star, Outback, etc). But if you go with first instinct thought, it must be tacos.

For the one thing I'd starve before touching, not counting rhubarb because of allergies,  it would be black pudding. I have tried it 11 times now, and still can't stand it. I was working on the thought that I hated broccoli with a passion as a kid, but tried it from time to time as I got older, and now it is one of my fave foods. It hasn't worked with black pudding, so I must just not like it.

I just finished eating that for lunch, except I mix it all together and it's like a Steak Dinner Salad!  ;D

I could eat a garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing for the rest of my life. I know that's a lame choice, but it's the only thing I could eat forever and not get sick of.

I wouldn't touch swordfish with a 20 foot pole. Bleh.

Steak all the way!  I couldn't care less about anything else, but if I had a nice big juicy black and blue steak...oh, I'm in heaven.

For what I wouldn't touch...kidneys.  Like TamaMoo with the black pudding (which I adore, btw), I just can't eat kidneys.  My husband loves steak and kidney pie, but he's on his own with that.

The beans or an actual kidney?  ;)  ;D

It'd either be tacos or steak. I'll say steak as its also DH favorite. I even got him to order medium rare and  realize its ok to NOT burn the crap out of meat!!

Some combination of good summer tomatoes, good crunchy bread and cheese, probably fresh mozz but also good goat or cheddar or whatever.

I cannot stand olives, the very hint of their taste makes me gag. Can't do it. I have a hypothesis that a taste for or against olives is genetic. Also, just smelling chicken/poultry in any form, processed meat of any kind (sausage, bacon, etc), pork/ham or eggs cooking in any form makes my stomach turn. I have to hold my nose passing by a KFC (friend chicken in particular smells like body odor) or in the samples section of Costco. I've been a vegetarian for 16+ years and beef (particularly steak) is the only meat that has ever seemed at all palatable in that time.

It would have to be something where I could have avocados/guacamole and sour cream. I'm probably going to have to go with chicken fajitas. I usually have them with rice and black beans too. Though I don't know how I would feel about it for breakfast. And I would miss fruit a lot.  :-\\\\ I don't know!

The next one is easy. Tuna. I hate it. I want nothing to do with it. There are plenty of things I'm willing to try and re-try. Not tuna. Never ever ever tuna. I think people should be banned from eating it in public places because it stinks!  ;D

Oh man, avocados/guac are so good. Definitely a close second in my book. We should go get Mexican food and eat tons of guac, NOT. :)

Bagels. Love 'em.

Raw onions. Hate 'em.

:)
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Glad to know I'm not the only one. My thing is white rice with hot sauce!! Its something I eat when there isn't anyone else at home, so I can really enjoy it! But I freaking love white rice! My mom always says, why not eat brown rice...and I say to her...because it isn't white rice!
