West Coast to Newcastle
« on: March 10, 2012, 02:25:33 AM »
Hi all, I am a new member to the forum!  I am from the midwest originally, my husband and I met in 2004 and married in 2005.  We currently live on the West Coast.  He is from Newcastle, and that is where we are moving to!  We have 3 kids and looking forward to being close to family over there.

I also look forward to getting to know all of you and gaining valuable advice from you (or giving it where I am able!).

Hi Shandy thanks for the welcome!  We visited Sunderland when we were there back in 2005.  How long have you been there for?

I figured you were American - very few Canucks on here!  ;)

Besides, I thought the West Coast was really called Cascadia (Washington State, Oregon, part of California and British Columbia)? Cascadians unite!  :P

Welcome, and yay, more Northerner spouses!  ;p  My husband is from Cumbria with some Geordie relatives, apparently.  I've not been to Newcastle myself.  We're going to be in Edinburgh for the next few years, but he wants to go back to England eventually.  So pretty oop north!  I do want to see more of northern England.  What do you like about Newcastle?

Hi Pip I am not there yet either!  We arrive in July.  I LOVED Edinburgh, we went there in 2005 when we were in UK for our honeymoon.  Can't wait to go back again.  We will have to meet up!   :)

LOL.  I havent been to Yorkshire, how far is it from Newcastle?

Well, Leeds to Newcastle is about 2.5 hours in the car. Yorkshire is a huge county, so other parts may be reached sooner.....  :)

Hello again!
We are now settled in the Gosforth neighbourhood of Newcastle.
I hope your move goes well.
I am looking forward to a cup of coffee with you once you and your family have settled in.
:)
Jenn

Hey G.  Welcome Aboard!

I'm new here too.  I've been doing the JFK to NCL trips for the last 4yrs, and I'm planning a big move to "The Toon" as well. You will love Newcastle!  Newcastle's layout is very similar Philadelphia, PA. It's a decent sized city with TONS of places to see, eat at, and visit.  It's great that it's not overrun with tourist. A 5min drive out of the Quayside, City Centre, or Gateshead, you'll be in horse & farm country. The scenery is beautiful. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I shot this video 2wks ago of my BA landing approach into Newcastle International.  Hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
