cat behavior
« on: March 12, 2012, 09:19:53 AM »
Is it normal for a cat behavior to change along with the weather?

I have a neutered, 8 month old kitty. Usually i would keep in house all night and let him out during the day while I am at work so he can play and just not be cooped up. However the last two or three weeks he has been waking me up at 5am or so in order to let him out of the house. If i just lay in bed he will talk to me until I do it.

I was wonder is this normal that the behavior has changed in this manner now that the weather is getting warmer and it is nicer outside? I know one thing I am tired of being woken at 5am so I am also wondering how can I train him not do that.

My cat always wakes me by sitting on my chest and repeatedly tappingy face with his paw. As the sun is rising earlier, he is waking me earlier. I could just shut him out of my bedroom at night but I enjoy his attentions in the morning

My cat wakes up early at this time of year too. But as soon as we change the clocks, he's fine.

Sounds about right to me.  We have a cat who has been perfectly happy being an indoor kitty and now that the weather's changing he's been scratching at the walls and making a pest out of himself.  We think he wants to go out but when we open to the door he just stands there and pretends as if he doesn't know what's going on.

We changed our clocks here in the US on Sunday and this morning the cat actually slept in. It was a nice change! Usually she's up before my alarm goes off, meowing around the place.
