Settling In
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:13:27 PM »
So, Sammi and I have been here since Monday. Funny thing happened on our way home from Manchester Airport...we got rear ended!! LMAO, Sammi and I were so hungry and so tired we just wanted to get home.We stopped and she had her first full English Breakfast. First words out of her mouth...WOW These sausage are great!!!
So far, she's had real fish and chips, a curry...and a meal out in the pub. She has enjoyed strolling around town and seeing all the shops and all the market stalls. Its great seeing it all again for the first time through her eyes.
Glyn and I are just enjoying being able to cuddle on the couch at night watching the telly.

Someone tell me though, where the heck is the sun??? :P

I'm glad you are enjoying everything!
How was it going through immigration at Manchester?
Which airport did you leave from in the US?

We left the US through Philly. The flight was pretty empty so by the time we got up to immigration it was practically empty. There were four people in front of us in line. The immigration officer was grumpy, but it was 830 on a Monday morning. She didn't give us any problems. I showed her our visas, she only said,"So your husband is English then?" and I said yes...so she stamped our visas and sent us on our way.

As for gaining weight...LOL...I had that problem the last time I was here. It totally took me by surprised how much I loved the food. I always thought English food was bland. Boy was I wrong. We're doing A LOT of walking though, and tend to split meals. My daughter and I split the fish and chips because I knew the piece of fish would be huge and the portion of chips is enough to feed three. Even sharing the chips, we couldn't finish it.
