My wife and I are close-ish (about a 30 minute train ride) in Barnsley. She's from south CA. I'd have to clear it with her but I'm sure she'd be enthusiastic about meeting a fellow American!

I'll be in Crookes to start with and then possibly a move to Hillsborough.  :D

I am about 1 hour 45 min away but I loved Sheffield.  The mall made me happy and the Mexican food at Amigos Mexican Kitchen on London Road WAS AMAZING!!! Bring your own bottle/beer though.

I am willing to drive just to eat there lol

I'll definitely come up and give you a warm welcome, Arica! As a matter of fact, I think I should introduce you to one of my favorite places in all of England....Meadowhall Shopping Center (Mall) in Sheffield. Wait til you see it at Christmas...wowza. I'm just down the M1 several miles but I do go up there often enough.   Check it out.

Cheers,
Julia
No matter where you go, there you are.

My wife and I are in Barnsley, not too far, 30 mins on train. She's from Philadelphia.

Maybe another meet up at the Devonshire Cat - great beer and probably the best burgers in Sheffield.

Agreed. Let us know when you're ready to meet up.

I'm in the S26 area, near Rother Valley.  :)

The tap, the taaaaaaap.
I've heard the Wick at Both Ends has the nicest burgers in town, but yet to be there to determine this..

Im in S8, Meersbrook/Heeley way.

The Rutland Arms (or the Rutty as its known in my circles) on Brown Street is known to harbor one or two Americans from time to time. (Also has a nice selection of food)

I don't even live in Sheffield, and i love the Tap!

Also love the Shakespeare, just across that bit of wasteland from the Kelham Island Tavern.
