Question
« on: March 28, 2012, 04:29:57 AM »
I just was scrolling through my folder of my documents and I noticed something. I had to use my grandmother's visa to book my flight (I don't own a credit card). I payed her the money of the flight back the day after I bought it. The passenger is in my name, but the billed name is to her name.

So it's my name at the top, then it's her name. Being paranoid as I am, should I just explain to the IO that I asked my grandmother to use her visa card to buy my ticket, as I don't have one, then payed her back for it? Should I get a note of her saying this? I know I sound pretty ridiculous but I am spending so much money on this and I want to make sure everything goes accordingly.  :-\\\\  My family thinks I'm overreacting about everything and it's annoying when they're telling me I don't need certain things when I know I do. Sorry if I'm posting this to the wrong area, I'm just really stressed out.

When I went to my first visit in the UK, I was just a high school kid and didn't have a credit card so had to buy my ticket with my sister's card. They didn't care or even notice. So just forget about it. Make sure you can prove you have enough money available for your trip though. They did care about that!

Some airlines DO ask to see the card at check in. As you won't have the card with you I recommend that you carry a photocopy of it, or be prepared to give the number, expiry date and CVC number.

My husband was recently asked to produce the card used to purchase his flight when traveling overseas (admittedly not US to UK). As he wasn't carrying that particular card with him he made a quick call to me for the information and the airline were happy with that.
