Something to Swap Thread
« on: March 31, 2012, 07:54:09 AM »
My hubby belongs to a bushcraft forum (you know, Ray Mears-type stuff) and they have a thread where they swap stuff with each other.  I thought if it's doable here that it would be a good idea.  Mods, do you think it's a good idea?

So here's what I have to swap:  A Vivien of Holloway dress, size 12.  V of H sizes are a bit on the small side.  If you are a true size 12 it will be quite tight in the waist, but with the proper 'big pants' underneath it will work (this is what I did).  It may be a tiny bit big in the bust if you are a B cup or smaller.

I've worn it only once.

If anyone has maybe some article of clothing to swap, post a pic and then I'll pm you if I'd like to swap.

I'd swap something with you, Andee - but that dress, lovely as it is, is far too small for me, lol!

Hope someone else is interested though!  :)

I will swap it if I can try it on - I think I need to go through my clothes and see what I want to recycle.  :)

Let me know if you feel you can hang on.  :)

I can hang on.  When we get together, I'll bring it so you can try it on.

OK, sounds good - just don't have anything to swap yet.

I LOVE the Vivien of Holloway dresses!  I haven't actually bought one yet, but that is probably my favorite websites for window shopping :)  Hope you guys manage to swap :)

That is a gorgeous dress, and my size, but I don't know if I would ever have an occasion to wear it!

Gorgeous dress but it would not fit me. Hope it finds a good home soon!

I'll play! I have a full length red Eliza and Ethan dress as seen here:

http://www.gezlondon.co.uk/multiwrap.html

I bought it on ebay and it's an amazing dress but this shade of red does not suit me at all. Happy to swap or sell outright for £25 (which is what I paid for it). It comes with a matching bandeau which adds additional coverage for ladies with more to cover.  ;)

I can hold out a while.  :)

I decided the 50s look just isn't me.  40's maybe, 30's yes, but not the 50's.  It's an amazing looking dress and a gorgeous print for those who can carry off that look!

That is a gorgeous dress, and my size, but I don't know if I would ever have an occasion to wear it!

I got it for a wedding and thought it would do as a harp performance dress as well, but too tight around the ribcage to sit and play comfortably.

Gorgeous dress but it would not fit me. Hope it finds a good home soon!

I have a black one like this. It's my holiday dress.  ;D I am tempted, but not too sure red is for me, either. But I can vouch for the handiness of these dresses.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] Hope it finds an owner.  :)

You might want to try this one if you need a sized dress:

Fab! I am worried I might have more than ribcage issues.  :-\\\\ And not gone through the wardrobe yet.

That one looks nice too! The size is not an issue with this dress but the colour. When I bought it, the seller described it as a dark red. I can wear some dark reds, but unfortunately with my red hair and freckles, this one is not for me. Oh well! If no one here wants it, I'll just re-ebay it.  :D

Ah, OK.  ;) 'One-sized' does not seem to work for me!  :P

Good luck!  :)

It will definitely fit you better in the boob area than it does me.  I have another dress, by the way that you can just have, if you like it.  It's 50s -ish but less structured and softer and it is white red and black.  I'll bring it along when I next see you.  :)

That sounds lovely and very generous of you! Looking forward to seeing you!  :-*

I've got a sewing machine I'd like to swap for small kitchen electrics- a mixer/food processor or blender type thing.  It's a Toyota machine I picked up off of gumtree and has lots of stitches.  I don't know much else about it but can email the manual if anyone would like to have a look.  Seems to work fine I ended up being given a machine a few days after I bought this one (that's what I don't know much about it:)
