Dissertation Topic HELP MEEEE :p
« on: April 09, 2012, 09:32:15 PM »
Hi Everyone!

Sooooo i've been wracking my brain for a dissertation topic as my proposal is due in two weeks and I think i've finally thought of something interesting enough for me to write 12,000 words about it...the growing student loan debt-I believe it is a bubble, and with the unemployment rates remaining depressed for so long I think it may collapse. Now I just need to find a "question(s)" that incorporates all that. And find a methodology. Any ideas?? I've never done a dissertation before and it's all a bit daunting. Oh and I am an Accounting/Finance MSc student if that helps-gosh I hope this is an appropriate topic  ??? :o

Are there books on your reading lists that are business research guides? I'd get those to help you narrow down you key research question and subquestions.

The kind of books I mean are here:

Otherwise, something like this may be a start:

What support / resources does your university have that you can access?

Good luck!  :)

I don't know a lot about finance and accounting, but will you be drawing parallels between the conditions of other economic bubbles and their ensuing collapse? That could be an interesting angle.

How is research conducted in this subject? Would you be researching from other published reports? Or compiling your own statistic and data and drawing parallels between past bubbles?

Good luck with your dissertation!
