NY Style Pizza in Soho??
« on: April 20, 2012, 08:53:31 PM »
This afternoon, I was waiting to cross Shaftesbury Avenue on my way home from work, when the man next to me opens this beautiful 13'' box containing the most strangely appealing greasy, cheesy, thin, NY style pizza.  :o I was (still am) in awe. I am now craving the stuff, and MUST FIND THE PLACE he got it!  I asked him where it was from, but he didn't know the name, and simply pointed west towards Soho.

Hopefully someone here can help me find either this place, or point me in the direction of another (better?) place where I can enjoy some delicious NY-Style pizza.

I will love you forever. [smiley=smitten.gif]

Oh, and it couldn't have been too far away, as he was just starting what looked like his third slice....

Well might not be 100% but it is like 5 minutes from Shaftsbury ave and it's totally amazeballs - pizza pilgrims :)  Like two minutes from my office :)

They're just £5 each and totally delicious :)

It's not Soho, but I hit the Italian Coffee Company "Icco" on Goodge Street in Fitzrovia.  Thin crust, cheap, gooey pizzas that really hit the spot sometimes.  Did I mention cheap?  I mean CHEAP!

It could be!  It looks like it can't be more than a 7 minute walk from where I saw it, so I think that might be it (and the guy who pointed had a poor sense of direction?) The pictures on the website are really close to what I saw, so I'll definitely have to try it out :)   Thanks!

Soho Joe's?

Been to Soho Joe's a few times, which I did quite like as well, but this wasn't that. :)

I love the ICCo pizza.  My husband hates it, but humors me.  Its not super crispy thin crust (which I love) but it is still nice wnd thin, so it is close enough to make me happy.  I only wish it was closer to my flat so I could do takeaway.  I love all of the doughy, more gourmet-y pizzas, too -- like Franco Manca, but sometimes I just miss a "plain old pizza".  And ICCo fits that bill.

I couldn't stop thinking about this pizza, so I went to ICCo today.  It wasn't the same pizza I saw on the street (different box), but it did fit the bill.  It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, and can understand why your husband probably hates it, (DB wouldn't be a fan either..) but it did make me satisfied to have just a "plain old pizza" and a Snapple!!

side note: For some reason, I think of Snapple these days as a "special treat."  I know it's relatively easy to find (though, not in my favorite flavors), but I don't usually go to places that carry it, and it's not something I'd typically go out of my way to locate.  However, if someone can find me some peach iced tea, I'd certainly go out of my way for that! But not Lipton brand.  It would have to be either Snapple or Wawa brand. Oh, Wawa, it's been too long!

And yes!! Snapple!! I actually haven't seen it anywhere but boy do I miss it! I know I won't find the one I like anytime soon though because I am all about the diet peach iced tea!! Will have to wait until my next trip home I suppose!

WAWA!!!!   ;D I grew up in SE PA, so we miss Wawa SO much.  And snapple.  I really miss plain old snapple iced tea.  Every once in a while I get lemonade, but it gives me horrific heartburn, but I suffer through just to have a snapple (usually humming the old snapple song).  Every once in a while I'll have a Lipton lemon tea, and then I remember why I miss snapple so much.

And, yeah, ICCo is definitely not best ever kinda pizza.  But tasty enough in a pinch.
