Any UK based baseball card collectors?
« on: April 30, 2012, 07:12:01 PM »
I've only just signed up to this forum (check out my Welcome Wagon intro message).

One of my main reasons for doing so is to try to track down some fellow baseball card collectors here in the UK, or more specifically, in Scotland.

It'd be great to find some other collectors to buy/sell/trade with, compare collections, and just to talk about the hobby and how we feed our cardboard fetish from 3000 miles away (maybe even get together for a beer or two to do so!).

Although I collect some newer stuff like the Topps Heritage sets, I work primarily on vintage sets from 1957 on. I also collect Detroit Tigers cards from ALL eras, US football and hockey sets from the late 60s/early 70s, and anything relating to Scots born ballplayer Bobby Thomson.

Feel free to reply to this thread or drop me a message if you'd be interested in talking cards!!

Hello,
Jeff here, I just moved to the UK last week, one of my priorities was ensuring my Mantle cards along with a few others came with me in "carry on" luggage.
Sorry to say we are still far away as we are settling in Thame at the end of July.
That said, I am a vintage collector, mainly football but expanding into Baseball.
Keep in touch,
Jeff

Here is the box I had in the US.. Have no idea where we will fit it in our new "smaller" home..

Jeff,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. First time I've checked this thread in a while!

I'm pretty stoked this morning as I've just knocked the last card of my 1962 set thanks to an ebay purchase (Bob Uecker RC). ;D

Do you have a wantlist? Are you working on anything in particular? Below is a link to my current list. Maybe we could get something together!

Let me know if you if you need any tips or advice on transatlantic dealing. I've been at it for quite a while!!
