urgent answer needed re:honeymoon in usa
« on: September 25, 2004, 06:22:18 PM »
Jimmy and I are heading over to NYC on Tuesday so we can apply for my spousal settelment visa and of course for our honeymoon as well... so I really need to know what he should say when asked reason for visit...and what I should say I was over in UK for...  I'm so totaly paranoid right now that they wont let him in under a waiver and its too late to apply for a visitor visa... and now that we are in the tenth hour i'm wishing we had planned this a lil better and not just placed everything on faith that it will go ok with no problem whatsoever  and the paranoia has really got to me cause I heard that since he's married to a USC any visit he makes to the US can and IS considered "intent to immigrate" ... even if we are going to NYC specifically to apply for my visa!!!  our return tickets are for oct 5... we will have barely over $1200.00 with us ( plane tickets and hotels were paid for b4 hand at travel agent) and $494.00 is earmarked for my visa... we have no savings...I dont have a job in the u.s. and if we tried to stay there the only place available to us would be the livingroom floor in my daughters 1 bedroom apartment in florida... I will have my visa application in hand ... I will have the copy of my appointment confirmation at UK consulate... his dad and he own a taxi together and his dad will write a letter saying that and that he expects Jimmy to return to work on oct 6, 2004... do you think we will have a problem if we tell total truth or should he go in as a tourist  visiting friends he met online and not mention he is now married to a USC and should i just say i was visiting friends and family... both which aren't actually a lies just not the whole truth.... so please... EVERYONE who reads this... if you can give me some advice I would sincerely appreciate it... your replies are breathlessly awaited...

It's the difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

Lipstick? Where woman? There is no lipstick!
She wasn't kissing your lips my darling

What's it gonna be Merv?
Interesting deal
She'll do it. If she has to kill everyone in this room. She'll do it. She's in love.
*sigh*
It's amazing how the path of love is so alike to the path of insanity

2gether 4ever Jo & Jimmy

You don't say anything specific unless you're asked.  If you are asked, then you're there on your honeymoon and to secure your spousal visa.  You'll have evidence of your appointment at the NYC consulate, so that should suffice.

I would say the chances of your DH not being allowed in are extremely slim....unless he's a wanted man or something!   ;D

Ditto Lola's advice on this one.

Yep, I agree with the ladies above.  Just play it cool...you aren't doing anything wrong and have proof that you are returning to the UK.  You'll be fine!  Best of luck and have fun!  :)

My husband and I went through immigration in Los Angeles three weeks ago.  He is the Brit and this is his fourth time in the US in less than two years.  I feel like immigration welcomed both of us with open arms.  They refused to let him stand in one of the long lines for non-citizens and sent him over to go through the shorter line for returning Americans with me.  I mean they actually shooed him to the shorter line.  The IO joked with him about whether or not he was going to be doing any driving while in the US and if he did to be sure to drive on the "right" side of the road.  Then they stood there and chatted about England.  The IO spent seven years in England while he was in the air force.  He didn't even ask us the purpose of our visit.  But if he had asked, I had my visa application and all the supporting documents with me.  We also had a return ticket.

Relax!!!!  Enjoy your honeymoon!!!  :)
