1) What's your favourite word?

Chicken! There's something about the "ch" and the "ck" sound that I love.

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

Australia. Or Nepal. Ideally both on a RTW trip!

3) Were you ever given a nick name that you really hated? Do tell!

I was called "malaria" in high school by a girl who thought I'd stolen her boyfriend. She amused me with her rhyming skills  . However in middle school, I was called Dee Dee. Much worse!

4) Close your eyes. What's the first thing you hear?

Chirping of all sorts of birds. It's springtime!

5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?


Sweetbreads. DH ordered it at a michelin starred restaurant that we took his parents to. When we were all so impressed at how brave he was, he went to the loo to look up what he'd just ordered! We all tried it in commiseration - and it turns out they were fantastic. I will never eat it again, mind...

I've never considered that one before!  At the moment I really like 'higgeldypiggeldy' but can't say it's an all-time favorite or anything.

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

US, first Florida to see my parents, then Philadelphia to see everyone else.

3) Were you ever given a nick name that you really hated? Do tell!

Never been given a nickname that's not nice or mean-spirited.  The called  me 'Ondroo' in college because that's how the Printmaking teacher pronounced my name (Andrea). He was from China.

4) Close your eyes. What's the first thing you hear?

Music which is on 'Live With Jules Holland' that hubby is watching.  A pianist called T. Grand or something like that.

5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

I don't think I've really eaten anything I consider weird, though lots of people think my normal food is strange (hummus, miso, tofu, etc.)  I did eat Chinese food in Ireland and that seemed weird compared to American - Chinese food.

I don't think I have one!

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

Warm & tropical & beachy - Bora Bora sounds nice!

When I was a child... Just about any variation of fatty/fatso/tubby/etc you can imagine, and then once kids figured out that I got good grades & I was one of those to sit next to at test time, eventually I became 'The Brain'.  


4) Close your eyes. What's the first thing you hear?

Just the whirring of the fan(s) in the PC tower.


5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

I tried a bite of DH's sea anemones, a speciality tapa in the Cádiz region of Spain, when we were in Cádiz.  They were a bit gritty & I would not have them again.

My favourite word is "extramuralisation," which is not a real word.  It was invented by Blackadder (or rather by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton) to annoy Dr Samuel Johnson.  But it's such a genius fabrication and so plausible as a Latin-derived English word, that I love it.  Also see "velocitous" and "pericombobulations."  

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

Someplace exotic, luxurious, and tropical.  Possibly the Seychelles.

No.  I've never had a nickname, though I've always sort of wanted one.  

4) Close your eyes. What's the first thing you hear?

The TV as my husband watches some archaeology programme.

5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

I've eaten a lot of unusual stuff, but probably the weirdest is takoyaki--balls of battered octopus tentacles, a hugely popular street food in Japan.  Actually, a lot of Japanese food is pretty darn weird.

Currently it is 'incunabula'. It's fun and relevant to my interests. 

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

Oh gosh, just about anywhere. Maybe a tropical place like others, where I could swim in a pool and drink fruity delicious drinks. Though I've always quite fancied going to Scandinavia, so perhaps a little trip to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

I've never really had a bad nickname (don't really have any nicknames), but my 5th grade teacher always called me 'Tina' and I kind of hated that. It just didn't feel like it was my name!

Birds chirping and a breeze through the trees.

5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

Ravioli stuffed with rattlesnake.

2) If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, money being no object, where would it be?

I’d like to go see my parents, but I’d also like to go to South America and travel around all of that neck of the woods.

My freshman year of college my new group of friends decided that because I have a very Irish sounding name and am very fair-skinned that my nickname would be McPasty. :/

Hmmm, I will try anything. However,  Bocha (Tibetan Butter Salt Tea) was probably the one thing I really won't ever try again!

When I was a freshman in HS, a bunch on senior boys started calling me Pearl. It wasn't until the end of the year, when they were signing my yearbook "To Pearl..." that a senior girl told me why. It was a reference to the ZZ Top song Pearl Necklace as even then, I was very busty. Although I innocently loved the attention I had from them that year, in retrospect it was pretty vile of them. I was so young and had no clue.

Frog legs. Tasted like chicken.

At the moment it would be somewhere with mountains and lots of snow in May.

My initials were T.B. so some of the kids nicknamed me tuberculosis.  That, and the usual names for a chunky kid. For some reason the tuberculosis name and jokes bothered me more though.

A mixture of birds chirping, dogs barking and the ice cream van playing 'Yankee Doodle'.


5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
Squid. I know a lot of people who love it, but to me it was like chewing on rubbery gristle. It may have been the way it was prepared, but I just couldn't bring myself to try it again somewhere else, although I usually try something a few times, prepared different ways, before deciding I just don't like it.

Yeah, it was probably overcooked.  I didn't used to like calamari for that very reason - because I'd never eaten it cooked right.  Now after several trips to Spain over the years, I actually crave it from time to time (served with garlicky aioli!), but only if it's cooked right, not rubbery.

DH loves it, but even more - Pulpo (octupus)!  Especially Pulpo a la Gallega.  Maybe I'll grow to like that better too someday.

Wonky. I can still remember hubby saying something was wonky...and I loved it. It perfectly describes so much in my life  "off center"

Oh gosh, how to pick!! Thailand, New Zealand, Singapore, China...I don't know if I could pick. BUT if its "money is no problem" then I want first class!!! Used to fly first (for free) when I worked for the airline and since I can't any more, then it would be the way I would go.

YES! My 8th grade history teacher called me CHIPMUNK CHEEKS! I was 14  and everyone laughed.

Our kitten that just climbed up my legs, onto my back, and on my shoulder is purring.

Well, I will honestly try anything once, but I guess the weirdest so far is snails. I really like them

bajagaloop (not a real word, I believe, but one I used to say as a kid to mean a silly person or thing...not sure where I got it from)

Vietnam via a First Class ticket or private jet

Disney Land - California.....have always wanted to take daugher to disney, but circumstances have made that not happen, California would be an added bonus

Never had a nickname....hated the fact that I never had one, gave my daughter a name that had several options of nicknames- she always uses her full name!

The music from Hugo DVD-- finished watching and too lazy to get up and turn it off.
5) What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? I am one of the world's pickiest eater..so nothing weird- I am a chicken....the closest to different for me would be a bison burger.
