natural dog food UK
« on: May 11, 2012, 02:55:51 AM »
Moving to UK in July so I started the dog food search already as my labrador has food allergies. I was not able to find any USA made dog food on UK websites. Do they not sell USA made dog food?
Most foods had either potato, grains, or rice in them which my dog is allergic to.

Does anybody buy their dog food online? WHich website do they use? Do they natural dog food?

My dog eats Orijen and Arcana (same root company) here in the states and those are available in the UK.  He was eating Orijen and Wellness but we switched to Arcana so he wouldn't have to change after he moved.  Orijen is the higher protein food of the two.

It is available in a couple of local stores in Northampton that I can find and also online from amazon.co.uk and also

and

Is there a particular brand you were hoping for?  someone might be able to help you figure out the closest thing to it...

Yes actually my dog is eating Nature variety Instinct food or California Natural. I was not able to find them on the petplanet website. Would be great if anybody saw them in the stores.

The only natural pet foods that we have been able to find here in the UK that might meet your requirements are Orijen, Arcana (both Champion products from Canada) or maybe Taste of the Wild.  One of my ridgies is elderly and full of lumps and bumps, so we keep him on a grain free, lower carb food and my other ridgie has a pretty sensitive stomach and does better with food from bison, venison or fish protein sources.
We had absolutely no luck at the larger 'chain' pet shops, but found two local shops and a vet's practice that carry natural pet foods.  One of them even delivers!
I'm in Surrey, so don't know if this info will help you, but I'll share the links anyway.

The owners and staff at both places have been really helpful and they were happy to try and find a supplier for any food that I was interested in.  (we mostly feed Orijen right now)
Hope that helps.
