People say the darndest things
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:41:07 PM »
So I move to Sheffield tomorrow and any time I tell people that I'm moving, I get some crazy responses.

The most common being: "Have a good trip." I s'pose the plane ride is a trip, but I read this as trip = visit.

The other day, I was at Target and after I told the lady who was checking me out that I was moving, she said, "Give my regards to the Queen." Yes, of course I will because I've got a date to meet her down at the pub upon my arrival.  ;D

Anyone say goofy things to ya'll when you were moving?

I got a lot of the silly remarks about saying hi to the Queen, or asking if I'd be having tea with the Queen. I am sure each person who said them thought it was a clever joke, but after 40 or so it (or 2 or 3, really) it begins to lose its charm.

The oddest one I had was being asked if I was going to drive or fly. Um...  ::)

I'm sure I will think of more later, but those are the ones that stand out.

Whenever were back home people always ask Dh if he has tea & crumpets together. I told my MIL this an she has never heard of the 2 going together either. I thought maybe it was something the older generation possibly did but not according to my MIL.  ;)  :)

This is great. It made me giggle.

My niece and I had a conversation about what was England known for in the food department and when I responded "Fish and chips" she promptly told me that, "No, everyone knows that Boston is the most famous for fish and chips."

Then she wanted to know if all the streets in England were cobblestone because according to her all of the streets in France and Germany are.

I chuckled at that.

Hi Aricarai, how is it going?  I was thinking of your move the other day, you moved on the same day that my brother got married so the date was stuck in my head.  Hope you are getting settled in ok!  We are here for a few more weeks and then off ourselves!

Ha yes I am worried about the time difference too, I am sure it will take a while.  We leave in just under 9 weeks, so much to do before then.

I WILL MISS TARGET!   :)  lol

Whoops. Missed this. Yes, thanks. It's been hectic with a vow renewal ceremony and 8 Americans (friends, fam) over for a bit. DH and I are both longing for a little routine and normalcy.

But that will all have to wait until after honeymoon which starts tomorrow! Italy and Portugal for 8 days. Weeeeeehooo!
