Frances I'm on callingcards.com since I'm in the market for US to UK deals, and I like it that they have an option not only for the UK, but for a UK mobile as well! That would have been helpful 2 years ago when I needed it.  ::)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

We use Gorilla Mobile for most US-UK calls. We've had them about a year now and so far have been happy with them. Also always have some calling cards, usually from Sam's or Wal-Mart around.
In the UK we've signed up with EasyDial and so far so good.

My card is for "land lines"--and it's spendy to call a mobile number with it...so when I do, it's long enough to tell Paul I'm calling the land line, so get off the internet so I can get through.  I'm home helping my folks at the moment...charge my card for $20 (950 minutes) and it said I only had 75 for mobile calls!!  When I told that to Paul, he got straight off the internet and I called back on the land-line.  WOW!!  THAT'S a big difference!!

On NTL, we have a special deal where you can specify a few countries.
Around 2p a minute at any time to USA.
Also gives us relaiable 1 meg broadband, and a huge number of television channels.

I also had NTL and can vouch for it but isn't this from the US to the UK? Sorry. I don't want to confuse things.

I use 10-10-987. When they first started they charged the .39 cents for each call and .03 cents for each minute to land lines and mobiles. Now they charge .46 cents?? I think maybe and .03 for land and .10 for mobiles. It's still worth it if you're calling from your OWN landline - but if you're looking to call from your mobile, you should get a calling card, I used nobelcom.com because they had the best rates from Hawaii to the UK :)

Yes, but I had assumed that there would be some recprocity in making/receiving calls.

For US to UK calls, I used www.ecg-longdistance.com.  They supplied my national and internation long distance for $.03 a minute.  There is no connection charge, but there is a $10.00 per month minimum.  I highly recommend them.
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.

Just for the whole going back and forth thing.  I got an MCI calling card (few years ago) and got the BT toll free number for the UK.  It cost 3 points per minute calling from the US to the UK and when using it in the UK it was the same.  Has anyone tried this with a Walmart card????
Dream a dream of England .......... Some day
