Cheshire Area Get Together!
« on: June 24, 2012, 05:29:32 PM »
I know it has been awhile and I was thinking it was time to try another Cheshire Area get together-- I have a couple of ideas but I thought would start out with getting a general idea of who might be interested.

If interested-- let me know what day(s) of week is the best, if it would most likely be just you- you and kids- you and spouse-- you, spouse and kids.....and we can go from there!

Hi! I'm in Manchester, but could make it to Cheshire--probably just me, though depending on the day/time my husband might come!

Hmmm, probably an evening type thing? I work, but I keep my horse in Wilmslow, so I'm down in Cheshire most afternoons anyway. :) My schedule is very up-in-the-air otherwise, unfortunately.

I would be interested along with my friend who lives in Gatley and another maybe in Stockport, but I am back in the states for August. I am flexible so let me know.

I live in Newcastle Under Lyme so that's not too far for me either and would LOVE the chance to meet others! I work Monday-Friday typically 8-3:30ish, so I'm pretty free otherwise as well!  :D

So shall we pick a date? Do we fancy dinner in town? The Trafford Centre? Wilmslow? Where? A weeknight? I am off to NYC for the month of August, and have something planned for most weekends in July, a weeknight would be great...meeting at like 8...come on! Lets make a commitment!!

Okay, sorry been a busy couple of days- glad to see there is interest! It looks like we have people interested from each end of the area- from Newcastle Under Lyme to Manchester. I know there are also a couple more interested from Crewe, Middlewich area also.
I was thinking of something a bit different if people are up for it. There is a pub in Sandbach which has small kids play area, and crown green bowling green. I thought this would give people a chance to get a bite to eat, a chance to try their hand at a very English sport-- those that know nothing about, I can tell you a bit more. Also be assured I am not athletic, and sporty, but thought this might be a fun thing to try (my DH does play so I am familiar with the game).

It sounds like a weekday evening is best, maybe say 5 ish? If people like the idea of this, I can check which nights of the week they are available- as I know they have league matches on the green several nights a week.

Can we do something WITHOUT children please! I have mine all the time, and its hard to do anything nice or chat to people with kids around. Sandbach is a bit far, why not meet somewhere more central, we could meet at somewhere like Spinningfields in town and have a meal at Southern Eleven (BBQ) and enjoy some adult chat! I am also up for Wilmslow. Thats a happy medium, we could eat at Strada or there is a nice pub with an outdoor area, the name escapes me right now. Obviously is this is what most people want, I will try to comply, but July is super busy and I am off on the 27th to the states anyway, so lets see wht the majority wants!

I am happy with or without children-- my child is 22 so it is a non-issue for me, but I know not everyone has the luxury of child care so wanted an option if some need to bring theirs- I want everyone included who would like to join. Sandbach may be far for you-- but Wilmslow is far from Newcastle Under Lyme- Sandbach is pretty central in Cheshire.
I am not saying we have to do Sandbach- but we have had Manchester Area Gatherings before, and I was looking to try to accomodate more central Cheshire. Anyone who would rather use public transport can easily take a train to Sandbach area if they don't want to drive. As stated in my first post, I have a few ideas- just wanted to see who was interested, which is why I asked initially if people were interested and if it would be on their own, with their spouse, with children etc.
