So does this mean that all of us couldn't wait to leave the Island? Lol! I do know Robert Moses, but we usually go to the beach at Point Look out or Lido Beach down by the Malibu Night Club (I used to go out dancing there in the 90's! lol) I love visiting LI, but I am not sure if I could live there or not!  I miss the bagels, the all you can eat sushi at Minado, and Target.

By the time I was legally old enough to get into the Malibu, it closed :( Same with OBI. LOL. I miss Robert Moses and decided the next time we go back will be in the Summer and I'm spending the entire time there!!!

BTW another LI'er here - from West Babylon (though closer to Babylon than Wyandanch) Living in the North (Sheffield) for the past 7 years or so..  Welcome!

Welcome Cait, congratulations on the wedding and finding a job so soon. My wife has been here 4 years, and took her a year to find work. The worst time for her was that first year, a combination of missing home, being lonely and no work whilst I was out during the day.
I'd like to advise you that it gets better.....she now is completely settled, of course there's times she misses the US, but now when we visit she's happy to get back home to the UK.

Hey Kerri! I know West Babylon and Wyandanch really well!  I lived on the south end of Dix Hills about 5 minutes from Wyandanch and 10 mins from West Babylon if I took DPA. I used to always go down to Babylon village with my friends to Lily Flanagans or other bars. It's always a good time there. Next time you visit you need to go to Barrique Kitchen and Wine Bar! (If you haven't already of course haha) It's one of my all-time favorite restaurants! www.barriquekitchenandwinebar.com/ [nofollow] How do you like the north? Do you ever make visits down to London?

Thanks for the encouragement and warm welcome TykeMan :) it really does help. I'm so glad you're wife is all settles now and that you two are happy! <3 Where was she originally from in the states? Where are the two of you living now?

No never been there!!  It looks awesome, will bookmark it for the next time I'm home!!

I love living up North, its really nice and Sheffield is a lot like living on LI - not EVERYTHING is here, but if need be can be traveled to within reason to get to it.  People are friendly and nice. Most of our friends came to Sheffield because of the two universities and decided to stay on (Sheffield has the highest amount of graduates who remain on in their city of study) so local people are really open to outsiders

We get down to London once or twice a year (usually to TV Centre to see a BBC show be filmed - most recently went to a taping of a new series of Red Dwarf) though we should go more... Though, my mother is British and we used to spend summers in North London as thats where my grandparents lived until 1998. We were in that area in May and it looks totally different from the last time I was there (1988 or so)

She's from southern NJ, just over the bridge from Philadelphia. We live in Barnsley, South Yorkshire....just a few miles north of Sheffield.
