Can UK husband and USA wife queue in same line at airport immigration?

We are flying back to NY in December and I'm totally going to have my hubby go on my line. I cant believe I never thought to go on the same line in the last 2 yrs we've been married.

I was just back home in NC in May as well :-)  I told my hubby that on the UK side the officer at Gatwick told me I should have gone in his line. Im going to do this when we visit my mom in NY in December.

US airports are very inconsistent.  Sometimes they have you both go through the US line and sometimes they have you go through the others line.  If you go through the wrong line, I have seen them send you to the BACK of the other one.  You should ask until you know how your airport operates.

I know for US airports it's one customs form per family so each family unit should go together.  We've always asked which line first.
