Oh, that's terrible! I was aware of the fee deposit but I didn't think it applied to me... no wonder I haven't received the CAS information yet. Geez, thanks for your information- it's much better to find that out now than later!! Now to dig up 1000 GBP after I've already had to put away tons of money for the visa... whew. Sucks that I have to pay that but I feel relieved that I got some answers today.

@kidgakash88, I'm confused by the loan spreadsheet chart. It seems like it only applies to those receiving federal loans when mine's private. My financial aid has already been certified by Sheffield... so I don't know what to do with the spreadsheet. I have a loan for $16667. I've also sent all my loan documents to the US loans dept. at Sheffield. Can't believe I misunderstood this loan/CAS stuff after I've been so careful and prepared  :-\\\\

The loan stuff is fine, I think. I would just e-mail the school to make sure that they send the Loan Letter. You don't really need that for the CAS number application. Just for your visa
