Why Don't all of us "unemployed" start up our own company ??
« on: September 29, 2004, 07:49:59 PM »
Just had a funny thought.....I've read all of the postings here about the job market in the UK....and we all seem to be in the same "disgusting" boat !!  :\\\'(

If we all werent' unemployed.....down to our last 20 pence....and desperate.....maybe we could all "pool our expertise" and open our own business !!!! hahahaha.

We could start up an employment agency for those individuals that have, just like us, relocated to this Country.  If America is the "Land of Opportunity"....where the heck are we ?     ???

Sorry.....I'm dreaming....but just had to share this thought with you !!

Hugs,

Gwinn

There was someone on this site a while back (stephanie, perhaps?!) who had a great idea of starting up a business to do investigative work for Americans moving over.  She was thinking of looking into specific areas where people were moving to give them the full "low down" on life where they would be living specifically.

I know you were just sort of thinking aloud, Gwinn, but honestly, necessity is the mother of invention.  I'm sure more than a few millionaires have had trouble finding work and found their fortunes by just making work for themselves!  :)

Well Aimiloo.....we might be onto something here.....all we need is .....uhmmmmm.....money  ???   hahahaha !!!

Where are you in the UK anyways ???? I'm in Liverpool.

And who was it that said "necessity is the Mother of invention?".....or "If you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door."

My God, I'm feeling very inspired this morning !!!!    ;D

i'm in london.  any money *hah*  that's something i don't have!

i can't believe i just emailed this recruiter and pretty much griped about getting negged for a position before they even met me because of my age and they don't think i'd be ok working above someone who's older than me even though i have the experience they want.

It's really freaking lame.  but it felt good to at least tell the recruiter that.

ROFL Aimiloo !!!!    ;D

My sentiments exactly !!!  I almost feel like Melanie Griffith in the film "Working Girl"....nobody would give her a chance, and she finally poses as her Boss, and gets down to business !!

I "did" work a "job share" position about a month ago....only 2 1/2 days a week....only temporary....and it was mostly balancing retail shops daily cash bankings and such, data entry, and spread sheets.  This Company's computer system was soooooo antiquated !!!  My calculator would not print, and I had to "share" a bottle of correction fluid with 4 other women !!!!   What a joke !!!  I didn't pursue trying to stay there permantly....it was not a good situation.

I've got all my toes and fingers crossed !!
