My new backpack!
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:49:07 PM »
I NEVER thought I would be so excited about a backpack in my life!

After a month of this 2 hour commute thing, I've decided to get rid of my purse, and go for a backpack. Now, I already have your typical JanSport backpack.  But I wanted something with more cushioning, organization, and was still "slim" if that makes sense... I've been looking around online here and there, but even though they give the dimensions, it's hard to really understand the sizing.

Now, let me tell you! I just bought this lovely new backpack from Kathmandu, from a tremendously helpful salesperson, and was so pleased as I transferred everything from my purse into said purchase.  Compared to my purse, the backpack feels so light on my back.  I feel fully balanced/centered, and I don't feel like I'm awkwardly shorter on one side.  It will comfortably fit all my purse goodies, as well as gym clothes and a towel.  (For safe measure, I also picked up one of their quick dry microfibre towels, which folds up ever so tiny!)  I can't wait to try it out for real tomorrow!

I know there are quite a few Ramblers on here, and London is full of commuters, so--Has anybody else had a fabulous experience with backpacks?  Kathmandu was simply the first store that I walked past after getting to Liverpool St. Station, and was closing in 15 minutes....So--Maybe could you recommend something even better?!

Also, anybody have any ideas how long this beauty might last me?  I walk approximately 5 miles a day, 5 days a week.  I'll probably end up using this as my carry on item from now on too, flying roundtrip maybe 4-6 times a year..(if UKBA ever gives me my passport back!!)

It's very attractive. Did you get it in that rose color?

I carry a huge cross-the-body handbag, which definitely makes me walk lopsided. It is so heavy, yet I just can't seem to part with a thing in it.  ::)  I may have to go the backpack route myself. :)

Yes, and fortunately (for my personal taste) the white "Ostro XT 22L" label is actually the same slightly darker rose color as the mesh water bottle holder.

I'll let you know how I get on with it, but I think it's going to be much more ergonomic your the other options. (Is that a word used in every day life, or just work life...I haven't figured that out yet)
