I made coffee creamer!
« on: August 26, 2012, 06:29:45 PM »
I bought single cream and mixed it 50/50 with semi-skim milk. It tastes very similar to the half and half I am used to from home and I am so pleased with the results! This may be old news to lots of you but it brought me much happiness this morning and I wanted to share.

 :)

Yep, that's exactly what half and half is... HALF milk and HALF cream.  The clue's in the name!  :)
Glad you were able to enjoy your coffee today!

My mom's been telling me to do that for ages, but I'm too lazy. :P I just buy boxes of non-dairy creamer, liquid in the individual pots, from Costco. I keep them in a vase next to the coffee pot so that my laziness is decorative...

Ha! I do that! For I while, I was just enjoying the indulgence of using pure single cream (yum), but I need to watch my calories! lol

Can you tell me how long a batch will last? I don't know how long single cream is good for. Thanks!

I'd guess about a week, depending on how fresh the cream was.

I'd guess about a week, depending on how fresh the cream was.

This has been my experience. I also brought my own nalgene bottles from the US and transferred the cream to these since they seal way better than the flimsy lids on the original packages. Helps keep them fresh (and since they are leak proof, I can easily shake up the cream/milk mixture!)

:)

Same thing here except I used the little Medela bottles that I stored breastmilk in ages ago. They are the perfect size and the tops screw on nice and tight. It lasts about five days, depending on the cream, as someone else stated above.
