Affordable beach holiday for October?!
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:30:30 PM »
I posted about this on Facebook, and I got many responses, but most were SO general! I need SPECIFIC locations, not just, "Spain!' or "Turkey!"... So, if anyone could be of some help, that would be sooo awesome!

Anyone have any Fairly Close, 'WARM BEACH LOCATIONS' in a 'Cheap Area' and a quiet area, suggestions for us?! PLEASE?!

Someplace without surfers and windsurfing. Calm waters.

We are flying from any airport in London (gettin' outta the UK!), and we will have about 700 quid total. Not much, so I am thinking about 300 quid, or 350, TOPS for both of our flights, which is doable.

It would be for like... around the second week of October, and it is around... a 5 night trip.

I know it is dependent upon flight deals (travel for 2), and room bookings, (which would be done on the awesome AirBnB...) But, generally, closer to London = Cheaper flights, right?

WHERE WOULD YOU GO? Like, what EXACT area/town/beach of what country?

South of France? Great! If so, Exactly Where?
Portugal? What exact beach town?
Crete? Specific area?

Anyplace else, a specific location, that you can think of?

Thank you so much!

xoxoox,
L.

Got BRP 2 days later, in mail box - it just appeared.

A colleague of mine takes her holidays on a little Greek island.  Very small, mostly local people and Greek tourists.  Definitely no windsurfers.  If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, I can ask her for the details.

Not necessarily.

I don't think anyone can tell you a specific place to go for a specific price except perhaps a travel agent. We travel on the cheap a lot, but we look for low cost carriers and the flight prices change all the time.

Super low cost search engines:
http://www.skyscanner.net/
http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/

With both you can say when you want to travel but not where. This may open up options you've not thought of and maybe some will be in warm beachy locales.

Good luck!

Unless you are dead set on a beach on the Med, I would highly suggest one of the lakes in Northern Italy (Lake Como for instance). It is the most beautiful area I've ever been. It will more than likely still be very warm in October and you will be catching it on the shoulder season.

Why don't you go on Travel Zoo, find a deal that suits, then look up if the place suits your requirements?

http://www.travelzoo.com/uk/

For instance there's a couple of deals to Fethiye which look nice, I saw this, which is a bit outside of your budget at £429 but is half board with drinks and looks nice enough, trip advisor photos look decent as well. Depends what you're after really.

Personally, I'd rather do something like Italy like SOAS suggested, cheap packages include

Sorrento - http://www.voyagertraveldirect.co.uk/holiday-girasole-hotel-sorrento-italy/?&source=travelzoo
Lake como  - http://www.voyagertraveldirect.co.uk/holiday-hotel-bazzoni-lake-como/

(All of these holidays came from Travelzoo)

historyenne, that would be awesome! Thank you!

cheesebiscuit, thank you. I'm looking more for "I have been too _____ and I loved it."

sonofasailor, good idea, but we are dead set on an actual ocean. Thank you tho!

Courtney, thank you, I bookmarked those sites and I will look at them!

All in all, I think we want to avoid another Italy trip, as we go every year, to his parents holiday house... but, we may end up there again, if we can't find something else... only not it his parents villa.

Lara, do you get any of the daily deal website e-mails? I've seen quite a few offers for beach holidays come up for quite cheaply lately. I don't know if any would work for you, and I've not been myself (my beach holidays are to Carnac on the south coast of Brittany, which is not an October beach destination!), but it might be worth a look for ideas. An example: http://www.kgbdeals.co.uk/national/channels/destinations#91
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

Well now think of it,  if you've got Italy as a fallback you're alright....
