Thanks PB! I hope your family in Mass. gets through it all ok too!

It's started snowing. We're due for some rain this afternoon and then the big bit starts tonight. All I can say is, thank goodness I at least live next door to a bar if all goes to pot.  ;)

Hope you luck out, NOT. I hope you don't have to shovel. I DO NOT miss shoveling. Not one little bit. While, I hope everyone stays safe, off the roads and warm, I can't help but think of my family back in Massachusetts and all the snow they have to shovel and think to myself "hahahaha suckaaaahs!"

Hahhaha!!!!

I can't remember my dad not having a plow on his truck. Middle of nowhere and big, long driveway.   So he and (we growing up) got away with not doing so.  Now he goes and plows out my sisters as well.... So all lucky!
Though, he will have a hard time this storm unless he goes out every so often and clears away....  1992 two feet of snow nor'ester, needed a front end loader to come and get us cleared- but that's because my Dad (and whole family, minus me. I was bored for days trying to keep myself entertained in the dark,  when whole family was sleeping the whole time) was really really really ill and he couldn't clear us out every few hours or so...

Gee thanks, PP!!  ;D lol

But nothing much happening now but the media is still going crazy with it. I love how Gov. Patrick advised us all to turn our fridges and freezers to the coldest setting so things would stay cold when the power goes off. Errr -- with all that snow out there we don't have to worry about keeping things cold  ::)
They've requested that everyone stay off the roads from noon today and no public transportation after 3:30. And of course the supermarket shelves have already been picked clean  ::)

Just make DS shovel, BD. :)

PB, my family never had a truck, so no plow. We didn't get a snowblower until 2010 and even then, only my dad was allowed to use it. Somehow, he was always scheduled to work during blizzards (he's a firefighter, so emergency personnel), so my sister and I always had to shovel. My mother has a heart condition, so she can't shovel and my brother no longer lives with them. So, I have many, many years of shoveling under my belt. Ugh. Shoveling. I'd rather clean the bathroom.

Yuck, PP.  Your back thanks you for moving to the UK!   ;)

Despite most of the UK weather, at least we don't have to shovel lots of snow (too often,. I needed to Monday night up here!)

I live in a city so it's generally just sidewalk that people have to shovel, and my landlord is in the bottom apartment of our building, so I don't have to shovel anything! However, I'll have to dig out my car once the plows come by and box the thing in with snow.

Yeah, that's the worst thing about the shovelling: you get your driveway clear and then the &*%# plows go by and shove more in  >:(  Somebody we know said that the plow would push a huge snowball all the way from the next town and it would end up in his driveway!

I just went out to the drug store to get some flashlight batteries and all the gas stations were chock-a-block with cars. Went into Wholefoods and you'd think it was the day before Thanksgiving but I got a cup of coffee OK  :D Just beginning to snow more seriously now.

Snow seems to be just about over now. Must be 12-15 inches in our yard but with deeper drifts. Trees bending under the weight of the snow. Driving ban seems to be still in force so guess DS won't be going to work today although they phoned him to say they would have a late opening.  :o

We only got about 5 inches in my city, which is much better than the 10-14 they were predicting for us! Everything is running normally and the gig I'm going to tonight is still on, so I'm pleased. :)

Quite a strange storm though. New Jersey is a pretty small state, but there are huge differences in the amount of snow people got!

I got stuck at my parents' in Central NJ last night and we got 8 or 9 inches. According to my friend who lives in my neighborhood in Brooklyn, there's only 3-5 inches on the ground there, which is a relief.

Driving ban is lifted at 4:00 PM today but they are not encouraging people to go out as utility companies still need to get around. May be some buses tomorrow but sounds like not much will happen until Monday. Logan re-opens at 11:00 tonight but probably no flights until tomorrow.

Most folks that I know in MA seem to have power - minus my aunt/uncle down the cape -  Dad was out plowing/snowblowing -  they say its quite hard to tell what they have snow-wise for the drifts, but it was a good solid 2 feet at least.

After yesterday/today's state driving ban and snow emergency paired with the shoveling I just did, I am sooo looking forward to living someplace that I rarely need to shovel  :P
