Christmas electronic sales?
« on: October 19, 2012, 02:52:43 PM »
Hi everyone. :)

I am thinking about getting my DH a laptop for his bday, as his old one is shot. His birthday is in the beginning of January. Do you know if any electronic stores have massive sales (like they do at Best Buy in the States) either before Christmas or after?

Thanks!

I would keep an eye out before Christmas.  I got my stand mixer for like 160.00 last year in the beginning of December.  It would have cost 310.00 (supposedly anyway).

Yes, there are a lot of January sales at UK electronics stores.  I'd say do a little research now to get an idea of prices, and then wait for the sales.

Hi,

There's no 'Black Friday' in the UK, so the 'Big' sales here are after christmas. With the economy being so down, retailers may well look to start cutting prices with deeper discounts prior to christmas to try and reel the shoppers in and maximise sales ready for the inevitable Jan/Feb slump in UK consumer spending.

If you can wait till just after christmas, then most likely that'll be the time you will get the best sale pricing. If you really do want it prior, then hopefully, you'll be able to find something.

There's quite a few discounters all the time with power sellers on ebay, as well as bricks and mortar shop discounters like Morgan Computers.

There's a laptop I'd love to have which from Dell's website comes in at over £1500+ and one of the big discounters on ebay has one up in very very similar spec (missing one or two small specs) for around the £850 level. I'm going to enquire if I can do the deal via their physical premises and get the price down a little more as there'd be no ebay and paypal fees for them to pay.

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!
