Potato farls.

I'm sure there's more but that's the first thing that popped into my mind.

Man, I love those.

Sausages, definitely -  being able to get an Old Spot sausage sandwich from Fernandez & Wells on my way into work when I have a hangover is probably the best thing ever.

Good black pudding, I am fully aware it's made from blood, don't care, delicious. I love morcilla as well which is pretty much the same thing.

Unpasturised raw milk cheeses, oh so many delicious cheeses, oh so illegal :(

Sugar free Ribena, although there's lots of lovely sugar-free still drinks in the US.

Wotsits

South east Asian food I haven't cooked myself.

Pies! Oh pies, so delicious, so unhealthy.

You've never had Branston Pickle before now!  :o

I always get the one with smaller chunky bits, don't fancy the one with the big chunky bits.

For me - cheese, meat pies, Sunday roasts, curries...hmm I'm sure there are more, but I'm not hungry & it's too early to think just now.
I've had it before when, say, we're out and about and didn't bring food with us so we have to pick up a sandwich and the only veggie that's available is a cheese and pickle sandwich.  I decided I like them (I'm not a huge cheese fan) and yes, got the smaller bits as opposed to the big chunks as it spreads better.

One thing and one thing only...Vimto.

I first had Vimto in the States. Used to drink it at least once a week.

Some good ones there, and interesting how many of the same things keep coming up.

When DW first came over 4 years ago and we went out for a curry with friends she wasn't too sure about it after.....I thought that could be a problem in terms of going for a meal with friends as it basically always consisted of going for an Indian. Now she loves them!
Same when I bought a good butchers pork pie, and she wasn't very impressed, now she loves them!
It's about getting accustomed to different tastes.
And as other people mentioned she likes the sausages, meat pies, oh and squash (the juice to dilute type) - we even had to get some for her daughter to take back!

mmmmm. cheese and bacon pasties from west cornwall pasty company. I've made my own sausage rolls and cornish pasties, but they aren't nearly as tasty. Also Pimms was a new discovery and now a summer staple.

When DW first came over 4 years ago and we went out for a curry with friends she wasn't too sure about it after.....

I remember my first ever curry... a chicken korma from the Modern Punjabi in Ibrox.  I pretty much hated it.  (i think they were trying to start me out easy by giving me a korma).
I got talked into trying again, and was given chicken tikka masala, which was better than the korma, but i still wasn't convinced.  And I hated the smell!!

Third try was a lamb madras... and that's when I got hooked!  I guess it was just a matter of finding the right combination!

Hm. No food really.

To me summers  =  Pimms Cup
and winters        =  Mulled Wine

I know you can get both in the US, just love the ubiquity of them here.

I'm not at all a heavy drinker- not even a moderate one, but I would definitely miss some of the ales/bitters (I believe someone else has said this, too).

When I visited family in the US for Christmas last year, I was really disappointed that all of the British ales/bitters that I love were carbonated (they explained this was necessary for importing, but I don't buy it at all. I don't recall the imported British and Irish ales that I drank in Dubai being carbonated), which really destroys the taste! I never cared much for beers at all until I came to the UK (though, I did like Yuengling a bit). We visited several pubs in the downtown area and I just couldn't find any non-carbonated beer, it was really disappointing as I don't like carbonated drinks.

Other than that, I can't really think of any food I would really, truly miss. I'm vegetarian and enjoy eating healthy, so most of what I eat tends to be made from whole foods. Though, I do prefer the foods here in the UK and other EU countries than in the US.  ;)

I miss sausages, reasonably priced decent cheese (I just paid $5 for a tiny amount of Wensleydale with cranberry), convenient Indian takeaway, pre-made poppadums, and Percy Pigs from M&S. We can get most of the cheeses here, you just have to pay a fortune for it. And as for beers, there are tons of really good beers in the US. Maybe because I live in a major city I have no problem finding decent local/regional beer, so it's not something I miss.
