Greetings from Angus
« on: October 21, 2012, 02:19:03 AM »
Hello, am Keri and have lived in Scotland for 13 years. Originally from California, but as technology does, enabled me to meet my husband on-line. I'm also admittedly the one who burst in to tears at Seattle airport when they gave me grief about my visa not being on my new passport.
This last trip I brought the printed sheet from the Home Office. Guess what? SFO didn't even bother with my visa on the way out, and flying in to Aberdeen, despite the extra cost, is so much better than any of the larger airports. Unless you live in London or Glasgow, mind.  8)

Welcome aboard Keri.  I've lived in Dundee for 2 1/2 years now.  We spend a lot of time in Angus of course.

I've always flown in and out of Edinburgh. Interesting about Aberdeen.  I'll have to look  into that.

Edinburgh and even Glasgow airport were closer when we lived in Dundee. This time I flew out of Edinburgh because hub's children live near there, and back in to ABZ. Also flew in to Seattle where my eldest lives, and then out of SFO. Surprising that the prices were not much dearer. There appears to be a fare war going on, so every day when I was in SF, I looked for our Christmas time booking, the fare changed. Christmas fares go up on the 15th so booked 2 days earlier. I just wish above anything that they would put one, just one a week, direct flight from Scotland to the west coast of the US. I despise getting through Heathrow, and immigration at Gatwick took me almost two hours once. The sad part of all my trips is, I've flown in to many east coast airports, and never visited these cities. Of course, after various layovers on the east coast, one a nine hour due to snow in Newark, I reckon it's less hassle flying SE in to Paris or Amsterdam and directly on to San Francisco.  :o
