We have a hotpoint - it was the biggest we could find without being a side by side or buying a stand alone fridge and freezer. It holds a ridiculous amount of food, especially for 2 people
its a hotpoint FF7190EX

I would avoid Smeg & Samsung for the plagues they are. And if possible I'd avoid frost free as well, but it's not a deal breaker. My personal preference is always for Bosch.

Courtney, I'd love it if you'd look in Which for me.  I didn't want to pay for a membership, but wondered what feedback they'd have.

I'm leaning towards the American-style ones for size, however, I don't really like the side to side models.  I like having the option of putting wide dishes or trays in, and you lose that with the side by side models.  I would also like it to be frost free.

Thanks all for feedback and ideas.  I'm probably going to check out Costco and Currys as well as looking online.  I appreciate any feedback.

Costco now have online ordering, just for a heads up!
Free delivery as well

Why would you avoid frost free? I loves me some frost free!

Agreed! I've had both and would NEVER go back to non-frost-free!

the fridge we replaced was one of the old fashioned types....hated defrosting that thing.

Frost free is often more energy efficient these days.
Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!

I would avoid frost free because it creates more problems than it avoids. Frost still builds up - just not where you can see it. By the time you can see it, there's already damage to components. Samsung in particular has had such breathtaking errors that I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me for free.

And I wouldn't say ff is more energy efficient as you have a defrost element that takes power to use. Whereas wit no frost free you just shut the fridge off once or twice a year & clean everything out.

Well, I've had frost-free fridges for years without any problems, so I wouldn't hesitate to do so again. Also, Samsung has excellent reviews and I can honestly say that I loooove mine!  ;D

Well I hope for your sake you continue to love yours.

But going by 8 years of experience repairing them, their emergency recalls, and their multiple appearances on Watchdog - I will never own one.

Sadly reviews are usually done shortly after purchase - so they don't reflect issues that appear over time.

I don't dispute that frost free is convenient, but with experience - id prefer not to have it.

There is not a single Samsung on the Which? "Best Buy" list.

All I can say is that we did a lot of research (real customers, not Which?) before buying, and Samsung came out on top. And it is the best fridge I've ever owned.

That's great for you and I'm glad you're happy. I was just adding an observation to the conversation.  :)
