New Yank in Cheltenham

Hello UK-Yankee!

I found this site while I was trying to sort out the visa mess (*Shudder*) and l've really appreciated all the topics you've covered in the forums!

A bit about me, I'm an army brat and last lived in Virginia before I moved here to be with my shiney new husband! We've been together for a few years, and I've visited a number of times, but moving here is a very different kettle of fish!

It's so nice to meet you all!

Hi and welcome! Gloucestershire is one of the areas we are considering as well. How do you like where you're living?
9/11/2012 Husband mailed his US citizenship application.
9/17/2012 Received e-mail stating his application has been entered into the system.
9/22/2012 Hubby received letter with date for finger printing.
10/12/12 Hubby went for finger printing.
10/26/12 Dh got a letter stating when he should appear for his interview and test- 11/27/12- just a month away!!!
11/27/12 We went to dh's interview and test- he passed and we went back 4 hours later for the Oath Ceremony! 95 people from 38 countries, really pretty cool!
So he's now a US citizen!!

Thank you! It is a pretty town.

Cheltenham wouldn't be my first choice in the UK, job wise it's pretty limited for Americans. But it's pretty with lots of little festivals and in town events. I haven't been to the racecourse yet, but I've heard that can be exciting. Where else are you considering?

We are looking into Cornwall, Herefordshire, Kent, Dorset, etc. We really are not sure, only know (or think) we will keep it to the lower half of England.
So what would be your first choice in the UK?

So what would be your first choice in the UK?

Oxfordshire! Closer to London, closer to family, and I think there is more to do... Jobwise Cheltenham is better for his work, so I can't complain too much.

Cornwall, of course. But you knew I'd say that, right?  ;)

Oxfordshire is pretty expensive though, right?

Off topic but I have to say I am pretty envious of those of you who have family in the UK. I'm feeling a little apprehensive of moving to a country where we know no one...

And back on topic now- what does your husband do for work?

Hi there, I just joined and was looking back at fairly recent posts, saw you're new in cheltenham and lived in Virginia, so I thought I'd say hi! I work in cheltenham and live with my fiancé on the Gloucestershire/herefordshire border. Hope you've settled in well here!

Erin
