Things that taste different
« on: November 30, 2012, 10:09:05 PM »
Just found this and was amused by the writer's sweeping generalisations of food in the USA compared to food in the UK.

The other amusing thing is that this link came through on my monthly Virgin Atlantic email. I'm a little disturbed that VA are including such arbitrary (and imho badly researched) blog posts in their mass marketing... this type of whinging is meant for awesome internet forums :).

Although I definitely agree with the bread.

I'm with you on the bread!

The water issue, though, isn't really valid. There's no such thing as US water - it can taste completely different from one place to the next.

Well, I'll never get that time back from reading an article that told me nothing.  You're right, water?  It can be totally different on two different sides of town for goodness sake, much less different places entirely.

Wow, a revelation.  There are differences in the food between two completely different countries.  I never knew . . .

Although I have to agree on the cheese :)  You can find nice cheeses, but the cheddar there just doesn't compare to a real British cheddar.

The other stuff was just odd.  How do you judge an entire country's dairy industry on a cheap pat of whipped butter that you get at a pancake house?  Ironically, I have found myself missing sausages here as I find British sausage to be so full of fillers and lacking in meat flavour.
