Financial requirement for spouse visa
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:06:47 PM »
I can't seem to find what I'm looking for...

I(UKC) and my us wife will begin application for spouse visa soon. Here are my questions:

Both of our US companies are transferring us to UK. My US employer has no office in UK so ill be working remotley, will that make a difference?

Also is it true that its only my salary that counts towards the requirement even though my wife has already got a job lined up and is getting transferred?

Thanks

It is true that only your salary will count toward your maintenance.

Yes, it's true - your wife's salary will not count unless she is already living in the UK with permission to work when you apply.

So this means that her income will count for her next visa application in 2.5 years (FLR(M)) and for ILR after 5 years, but it cannot be considered for the spousal visa application made outside the UK before she is living there.
