Anna Wintour, US Ambassador to the Court of St. James?
« on: December 04, 2012, 07:11:57 PM »
So I came across a rumor saying that Obama might be considering Anna Wintour as the new ambassador to the UK (http://nymag.com/thecut/2012/06/anna-wintour-angling-for-an-ambassador-post.html). She raised a lot of money for him and jobs as ambassadors to Western European countries are often used as a very elaborate thank-you to political supporters so that in itself isn't very odd. But it seems that she has dual citizenship--she was born in London to a British father and American mother. Isn't this a conflict of interest? It seems odd to chose an ambassador who has dual citizenship in the country they're serving in, there would be an inherent conflict of interest, wouldn't there? Even for two countries which are as close allies at the US and UK, there are some points of disagreement.

Tim Gunn has a fabulous story about her in his book, which I actually believe to be true because I kinda love Tim Gunn -

http://entertainment.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/09/07/tim-gunn-diva-anna-wintour-went-ballistic-when-i-revealed-she-is-carried-around-by-bodyguards/

He states in his book that she essentially threatens to sue him until he manages to get someone else to corroborate the story and then he sends flowers to apologise.

So anyway, I wouldn't want Anna Wintour to be ambassador of anything because she's cray-cray also she says things like this "I had just been on a trip to Minnesota where I can only kindly describe most of the people that I saw as little houses, and I just felt like there’s such an epidemic of obesity in the United States. "

I'm not arguing about obesity being a good thing and I appreciate it's a serious issue, but she is known for telling Oprah to lose weight before her cover photo shoot and refusing to hire fat people at Vogue as they don't project the right image and I feel she could handle herself more positively.

Haha, yea...she's fairly crazy by all accounts. The Devil Wears Prada was based on her, after all...
