Customs?

Our stuff has been in customs for about a month now because they were suspicious of our hiking gear, scuba gear and dog food (didn't know we weren't suppose to bring it as others here have brought it. It was $150 worth that we got for free).  Anyways they have to search every package now and I don't know how long it will take.  The other day we got an email saying that we didn't claim a new computer monitor.  The computer monitor is 2 years old!  Yes, we put it back in its original box because that is the best way to ship such things but really!  I has clearly been opened and used.  They told us this yesterday and then today they tell us that they haven't even started looking at our stuff. 

I am just worried about other things they are going to try to say we brought over without claiming.  How much is it all going to cost?  Anyone have this happen to them?  

In the end this worked out fine.  Our stuff was in customs for about 7 weeks and they went through about 85% of our boxes and didn't find anything else suspicious.  I was so worried because we have a lot of electronics the that we put back in their original boxes but they were OK with that. 

I was also worried that they would charge us because my coworker said they would.  My coworker thought it was 80 pounds an hour but we didn't get charged.  And we got to keep the pet food.
