Ornament hooks?
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:20:59 PM »
Hello Everyone! :)

This might be a stupid question, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could feed ornament hooks (for the tree)? I've been keeping my eyes pealed and haven't seen them. If they're not possible to get, do you know where I could find really skinny ribbon to thread through my ornaments and hang them that way?

Thanks so much.

I haven't ever seen them in the UK (I've lived here my whole life) - my family just uses paperclips for ornament hooks... we just untwist them so they can be used for hanging things on the tree (like this: http://foldsomething.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_0067-199x300.jpg).

Or, if you don't want to use paperclips, you could probably try a haberdashery shop for thread or ribbon for them (John Lewis has a haberdashery department, for example).

Paperclips! Of course! That will work. Thanks, ksand. It's aggravating because I just got back from the US where I had the opportunity to buy a truck load and I put them back because I told myself they would definitely have them back in the UK. That'll teach me to assume.  :P

I bought them at Woolworth's back in the day and I still use them after having been back in the US since 2009.

I've been using floral wire, bent into a full circle tied up - really secure.

That said, I have the feeling I've seen them at Aldi before?

My dad just gave us some the other day.  He said he thinks he got them at B&Q but isn't entirely sure.

I bought some this weekend from one of those mom & pop housewares shops in Hammersmith on King Street. It's run by an Asian family and they sell kitchen equipment, tools, cleaning supplies etc. I couldn't find them in Poundland or Homebase, and I'm glad I ended up supporting a local family run business instead.

I bought gold coloured paperclips from wilkos and turned em around to be hooks. Most of the ornaments on the tree on Christmas #6 and still going strong!

Not even fancy gold coloured paper clips like what Kerri got at Wilkos?  :)
