Good article but from personal experience not all parents have the ability to think that way.
My parents always say to me "I don't think you'd be happy here and Scotland just suits you. I miss you, but you're having so much fun, and that makes me happy"
I wish my dad would be that way...
We've finally broken the news to him (I see now why I waited so long to tell him, good reason!) and he took less than 3 days to begin his usual gossip about the whole thing and less than 3 days to inform us of how so and so thinks it's a big mistake. I knew, somewhere inside, he would do this... I had hoped for better but knew this would happen.
Being concerned for your child is perfectly normal but doing your best in conniving ways to make them change their minds only pushes them further away from you.
Sorry for the mini-vent- this post just came at a sore time for me.

I'm so sick of family who just can't be happy for us.
